Guest guest
I was taken off methadone 2 weeks ago because anyone who is on a antidepressent or has a pain pump should not be on methadone per my pain dr Debbie Bassett wrote: HI, I went on methadone just over a month ago. I had been on the duragesic patch and was on that for about 3 years. So far the methadone is working, my doc put md on 40mg three times a day. Im still using the Roxidone for break through and have been taking 30-45mg PRN. Which Ive beem using about 2 times a day. When I am really having a bad day use around 5 times again, I did really not want to go on the methadone and tried sticking with the patch and roxidone as long as I could, but it got to the point that the patchs were really irritating my skin so we went to the methadone. Hope everyone has a paon free day Blfessed Be Debbie --------------------------------- Get your own web address for just $1.99/1st yr. We'll help. Yahoo! Small Business. Guest guest
Hi Debbie, I just have a stingy Pain Med Doc. He thinks the Morphine ER should take care of it all. And it does at some point throughout the day. I just feel I need more breakthru medicine. I use to take a total of 180 of the 15mg Roxicodone per month with no long acting med. Then my doc, the one I had then, put me on 100mg of Morphine twice a day in addtion to the Roxi. Then that doc had a massive heart attack and took abrupt retirement, so I had to find a pain mgmg spec. and this is what I have now. lol I'm glad the Methadone is working for you. My sister takes it with the Roxi as well. Her pain mgmt doc won't see family or friends, so I can't go to him. Hugs, Tommie Re: Methadone Question HI, I went on methadone just over a month ago. Guest guest
Hi Vicky, Dilaudid is a very old drug, but still one that works very well I hear. I've never taken it personally. They are starting to use it in the ER's instead of IV Morphine, they will give that instead. I'm not sure about the Methadone, I've never taken it but my sister has been on it for nearly 5 years and says it works for her for the most part. She has a lot of break thru pain tho. She say's it doesn't drug her, just takes care of her pain. But she also says it's a bugger to come off of. We'll see what happens if she ever gets her Medicare and can change pain meds what they do. Guest guest
Iv'e been on Mehtadone for a few yrs now. It's a synthetic drug. It is slow to go into your system but stays a lot longer than any other narcotic that i'm aware of. I was lucky i had no side effects. Guest guest
I would have to agree about it via IV. That is what usually they give me when Im out of control. They also, used it post op after the removal of my stim. When I was getting discharged, my pain doc wrote for me to get a shot of Phentynl and viseril. As was getting ready to leave, they said, oh no, we dont give that im. but we do have order for demerol, but have to stay for an hour after we give it. I was like what! helll I have a 2 hr drive home it is to make that easier. told them to forget it his office was right around the corner from the hospital. Walked in, he figured Id be by, told to give me the shot, got the shot and left. Which was enough to take most of the edge off for the drive home. Lately my muscle spasms are really bad. the other night hubby almost went to sleep on the couch. Apparently I had gotten up to go to the bathroom and was getting back in bed. Well, apparently, I was trying to get in bed but my left leg kept spasming which it has been doing alot of, and was bouncing the whole bed around. he finally got up and put my leg in bed. Its really getting more anoying than anything cause even getting into the car, my right leg will do it. Some days it seems like the baclofen helps, others not at all. The methadone, for me though has really helped alot, only time it hasnt has been on days when the spasms have been really bad and out of control. Is anyone else on the baclofen? if so, are u finding it works better than like the flexeril or not as much? Blessed Be Deb --------------------------------- Stay in the know. Guest guest
Sounds like what they are reporting happened to 's poor son rest his soul. Methadone mixed with Lexapro and Zoloft. Scary such common meds could be deadly. Glad you were taken off of the mixture stay safe. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am taking Methadone 20mgs 6 times a day, along with Oxycodone 5/325 for breakthru (about 4 times a day), and 50mg Zoloft. My pain doc is aware of this. *********************************** in Washington Emotionally and Medically screwed up ***********************************
Guest guest
Hi Debbie My pain dr just put baclofen in my pain pump with the morphine.my neurologist ordered it they gave me 50 ccs daily but have to be watched carefully per my neurologist because baclofen makes you weak so they are suppose to keep good track of you while you are on it .so now i have to go to the pain dr every 2 weeks to get checked Debbie Bassett wrote: I would have to agree about it via IV.
