Hi ,

Must be something magical about turning 48. I am too, and was diagnosed about 2

months ago with RA. I'm still learning about living with the disease. You'll

find the people here, friendly and more than helpful, no matter what the

question.

You should email Skip's Pharmacy and ask them about dogs and LDN.

They are experienced in these matters.

Is your dog on commercial food or home made? If she's on commercial,

it would be better if she was on home made to make sure her body is

getting all the nutrients she needs-- raw would be good. Also, a good

herbal dewormer like humaworm, clarkia or barefoot (don't know

anything about barefoot's dewormer). Does the lupus cause the

seizures or does she also have epilepsy? If she has epilepsy, the

ketogenic diet (strict Atkins) might be helpful.

Also, a heavy metal detox using iodine (lugols, magnascent or

detoxified iodine (www.iodinesource.com) might also help the seizures.

Has she recovered from the pancreatitis?

I'm so sorry your pup is having such challenges.

She is eating a balance homemade diet from human grade food. She

gets no vaccines or chemical things like heartgard or frontline. We

are very careful with her.

Her seizures stopped after two months. I think she had them when the

central nervous system started being affected. She doesn't have

epilepsy. All that was last winter. Pancreatitis is gone now since

she is off immune suppressing drugs.

I will check into the de-wormer although she doesn't show to have

worms.

Thanks,

Gail.

Art,

Thanks. This was suggested by a moderator when I joined today and I

have written an email to the pharmacy. They seemed very friendly on

their website! I'm sure my vet has no information on this but I know

he would write a script for her, since he is very interested in her

and would like to help.

Glad to hear she recovered from the pancreatitis and the seizures are

no longer an issue. Look into what Hulda has to say about

parasites. She's made them her life's work. She feels that all

diseases that plague us come from parasites.

Along with LDN, another thing that comes to mind is energy work.

There's a book by Gordon called Quantum Touch (you can get it

at Amazon or his website). It's an easy technique to learn. There

are no attunements or symbols like reiki. Essentially, through

breathing techniques you raise your vibrational level and cause your

dog's vibrational level to rise to yours. This allows the dog's body

to heal itself. At the very least, it is relaxing to the dog and a

loving way to show her how much she means to you.

I think getting her on LDN would be great idea.

Hi Gail,

welcome to this group! I have Crohns disease, and the only med I use is LDN. Have been on LDN since 09/2007. LDN is helping me tremendously, and did so from the first day I started using it. Your nephew should use it now, even if he is in remission, because it is able tocalm down new flares quite fast, and he maybe don't need any other meds to get better. But there is something important by using LDN. It should always be used together with a proper diet. Your nephews family should help him by making the SCD diet or the Makers Diet. SCD: Book: Breaking the Vicious Cycle by Elaine Gottschall, or book: The Makers diet, by Jordan S. Rubin. Both books are to be ordered at www.amazon.com Both diets are quite equal, and I know people using both books to learn even more. There are also books with more recipes on these diets. People are often brought in remission by using sugar,

grain, milk and wheat free diets, and often the remissions are on 8 - 10 years. Together with LDN this could be a fantastic journey to a better health. People often claims that the diets are restricted and hard to follow. But the disease itself and being sick just have to make even more restrictions and problems for the individ.

Also: LDN is super for your dog,

but don't use the same dosage for dogs as for humans. Good luck in getting your dog well!!

Kindest regards,

Ingrid

Hi Ingrid, I was wondering, do you follow a specific diet? I have tried to follow SCD but it is so hard! I am seeing my doctor next week about LDN.

Hello! I also have Crohn's and try to follow the SCD diet but it is

very hard. Do you follow a strict diet on LDN also? I was hoping LDN

may help so that the diet restrictions can be somewhat alleviated.

What do you do exactly?

Thanks,

Hi Lorie, and all others who have taken the time to inform me about LDN,

Thank you so much for all the information. Tomorrow I will finish

looking at everything and contact the vets. I will let you all know

what they have to say. I want to be understanding this before I call

them, you know how it goes, especially if it is something you get " off

the net " they hate that. Her reg. vet is pretty understanding and I

must say the neuro vet at the university hospital is also very nice

about listening and helping. I am coming around to the idea of giving

it to her now. I don't think there is much to lose as it doesn't sound

like there are very many neg. issues with giving it.

As for my nephew, I gave his mom the emails and info that pertain to

him and Crohns. He is back to his white diet for three days per his

nutritionist since he had this flare up. They do have the Makers Diet

and he is on only diet to control and has been doing very good until

this week. Thanks again,

Gail.

Hi Gail,

I have my dog on LDN as part of the protocol I am trying to control his metastatic bladder/prostate cancer. Although it is too soon to tell what effect it may be having in controlling the cancer I will say that once I started him on it I noticed a pretty good increase in his energy level and appetite. I have not noticed any negative effects so far. Based on the reports here from people using LDN for various immune disorders I think that it might be worth a shot to get it for your dog and see how she does. My dog weighs 52 lbs and is on 3 mg per day.

Good luck,

Lagin
