I went to go start marinating some meat for sausage (those of you also on

NN list, you know whereof I speak), went for the kefir. I'll admit right

now that I haven't been drinking very much of it, so while I was expecting

to have a whole lot in the fridge, instead I found ....

OH NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! My poor little babies, my poor grains!!!!

They've been plopped in a quart jar for WEEKS! (Like, four or five

weeks). In the FRIDGE!!!!! And the jar got shoved to the BACK of

the fridge!!! Egads, my poor babies must be FROZEN!!!! Don't die,

don't die, little grainies!!!!

(And for those of you that are good at visual imagery, imagine a bunch of

grains that ran out of new food several weeks ago, starving to death,

wasting away, wrapping their little arms around themselves, shivering.

Because that's exactly the image that ran through my head. Think of

Little Miss Matchstick or something ... out there in the frozen waste ....

*sniffle*). Shivering. SHIVERING, I tell ye!

Quickly I scurried.

(Yes. I scurried. I actually scurried. When was the last time

YOU scurried?)

I seized them from the back of the fridge, quickly, oh so quickly. I

never knew my arms could move that fast. (Later on, I cleaned up the

mess of all the stuff I dropped on the floor whilst seizing my poor baby

jars from the back of the fridge.)

I talked to them. Profusely. ( " I'm so sooooooorrrryyyyy!!!! Please

live, please live, don't die, I'm sooooooooooorrrrrrrrrryyyyyyy!!!!!! " )

I strained them. Oh NO! No little babies to sift out! Oh

NOOOOO!!!! (This bodes ill, quoth I.)

I gave them a nice new jar and some nice new raw milk to eat and they're

sitting on the counter (NOT in the fridge! BAD fridge! BAD!!). I'm

waiting to see how long it takes them to stop shivering.

Pray for my little starving frozen children. They must LIVE!!!!

:)
