Guest guest
Hi, thanks for the explanation.Fibrates are a class of drugs that lower triglycerides mostly--though there is some lowering of other faty acids--cholesterol. they work by decreasing the liver's ability to extract free fatty acids (or so it it thought) they include Tricor and Lopid drugs. Hmm, he was on Tricor the longest I think....but also used Lipitor, zocor and in the end prescribed Crestor, which by then he refused. Does your husband take Fish Oil Omega 3 (NOT OMEGA 6) capsules? Yes he does, 3 GR a day....altho for me, they upset my stomach so I take flax oil.... How long was your husband on statins before he developed the symptoms of neurodegenerative diseases (dementia and parkinson's)? You know this is hard to answer...as we were so uninformed then, and didn't even know what to look for. I believe the muscle damage came first...then they started playing around with different brands. He was shuffling his feet...walking slow, more annoying was speaking SLOW, and really enunciating the words like everyone was a child. How long was he off the statin before he recovered? Well, the symptoms all cleared up fairly quickly......I would say 6 months to a year, but the muscle loss and weakness stayed for about 5 years......altho he is now working out and using those muscles and thinks they are finally responding. did he ever take CoEnzyme Q10? Yes, finally after doing research, altho his cardiologist still says it is probably a big waste of money but said to take it if he wants to. Can ya believe that? My question is; what kind to take? Of course I was buying good brands from health foods stores...then learned about consumerlab.com.....so I was listening to them, but I am not convinced they do a fair reporting. Maybe they report if the supplement does indeed contain the amount advertised, and if it will break down in the body, but some of that stuff also has awful other things in them......for instance, I bought WalMart brand calcuim pills.....because the website recommended them as being "good".......I finally read the bottle and see they contain talc........not good for us as far as I can see....and maybe worse than that....so it leaves me really wondering which to buy, and who to trust. I wonder if coq10 would help him? All I can say is, he has taken this for a few years now....and some people claim energy, etc., but neither he nor I have noticed that. We take it because of what we read, not how it has made us feel.Unfortunatley...we've never felt anything good....just trust it is helping. best of luck and thanks for responding. olsen--- You are so welcomed!
