Guest guest
CoQ10 is available in three different formulations. The first is as a powder. It is not soluble in water and has poor absorption which can be increased by dissolving it in some warm oil or fat first. The second form is in an oil filled capsule or gel . Here it is already dissolved in an oil. The third and most effective form is as a type that is both oil and water soluble in a capsule known as a Q-Gel. There are a number of mail order sources for vitamins offering better pricing. My brother (he's the one with the Lipitor induced muscle damage) and I currently are using Swansons Vitamins as a source. As an example, their present price for 100 mg Q-Gels is $32.99 for 60 softgels Other mail order houses are VitaminShoppe, Puritan's Pride , Willner Chemists and more. Haven't checked lately but some years back almost all CoQ10 came from Japan and was of high quality. My brother took 30 days of 10 mg Lipitor capsules in December and there is no diminution of the muscle pain and weakness in his legs yet. Have an old friend whose 78 y/o wife has been on Zocor and has muscle pains especially in the arms. He says his doctor is thinking of sending her to a rheumatologist. Guest guest
Thanks for all this info folks. What I wonder is if there are some things that actually hold up absorption - just a some things aid absorption. It does seem to work better sometimes than others, even the same supply. Guest guest
An extract of black pepper called Bioperine increases the absorption of CoQ10. It may also increase the absorption of drugs (and supplements) so watch what else you take it with. CoQ10 can be purchases with bioperine in an oil base. http://www.bioperine.com/crq10.htm -- Steve - dudescholar@... > CoQ10 is available in three different formulations. The first is as > a powder. Guest guest
Doug, I found this very interesting... I have bought online from Dr Sinatra..he sells (or his company, etc.) Q-gel which he has always stated is way more beneficial than reg q10. His also has L-Carnitine in it.
