April,

One of the things I read somewhere a long time ago was that Genetic dementia was

more a possiblilty of a person had early onset. And early onset was before 65.

Then the odds go up that the next generation " might " be more prone to get it.

Another thing I heard was that there usually is more than 5 siblings in the

family the odds are up that other siblings will have it.. I don't know how real

that is or why.

Is LBD Genetic?

Here goes another question. See, I told you that it wouldn't be my

last because one question after another keeps popping into my head.

Do any of you know if LBD is genetic? My FIL has both PD and LBD and

I'm wondering how much at risk that puts my husband and his brother

for developing them in the future. To my knowledge, my FIL is the

first one in his family to be diagnosed with either. Any idea what

brings it on? Just wish there were more definitive answers.

Thanks again!

Hi April

Just wanted to add my two cents worth here. My

grandmother had some kind of dementia and it set in

before she was 80 years old. Her sister and I also

believe brother suffered from a dementia with

hallucinations. No names were given way back when. My

mother one of 7 siblings has LBD now. He had two

brothers and one sister who have already died. All

before age 78, so I can't say whether they would have

had it or not. Three left to go. One is 80, then 78,

then 73. No signs at all for them yet. So in this case

I believe that dementia is hereditary and later in

life. Just one case in millions, I just wish that

research was of the up most importantance and I would

be spared this dreaded disease. I am an only child, so

who knows?
