Hi there...sorry to hear about another statin syndrome sufferer...I

feel for you...Sounds like you are taking what you should but I would

up the C...from another board it has also been suggested 800 mg folic

acid and Lysine. I just upped my folic acid to try this...not sure

about the Lysine as that is a protein and I am getting so much protein

now from a low carb diet and would like to take one less pill.

I know the pain you are in...I have been there...taking so many

tylennol, advil, ibuprofen and good old asprin...I know I was overdosing

on them...hot showers seemed to help. Once in awhile I had to ask for

prednisone...I am 16 months off of the drug and now can move my arms

with very little pain...legs seem to be healing more slowly...the

numbness and tingling have finally gone though...

Hang in there...

I'm gonna write this so I can see it and others too. I had the bypass

12SE03. Before that it was 4-5 stents...can't remember, don't care.

They have all closed up anyway. In JAN04 they uped my Lipitor to

40mg's x 1 day. For 1.75 yrs before it was 10mg's. I knew something

was wrong when both hands/arms were getting numb all the time. I

could not grip, rip, tip or dip anything with my hands. My knee's

were hurting like crazy. I got this invite from ED and Wife and the

very next day stopped the Lipitor. I don't fear the supplements that

I'm now taking. I DO wonder about the quality because of the money

hunger of ppl in biz....:>( It is my firm belief that I can not hurt

myself more with the suplmnts than with the other MEDS. Time will

tell...as with everything. I have a bld test comin' up 22JN04 and

I'll see my numbers. How much worse can it get. I feel much better

with the numb hands and stuff already. That is a GOOD thing. Keep the

info flowing. Please and Thanx, Bogie

, I'm so sorry to hear of your pain and the enormous expense that you have incurred in an attempt to put an end to it.

Thanks for telling your story and for the recommendation regarding the pain clinic. My husband has been unable to convince his docs to prescribe adequate pain control, in spite of obvious causes (previous back surgery) in addition to his complaint of muscle pain resulting from long-term use of statins. I will pass along your information to him.

Re: My story

I have been on Lipitor for over two years and to make a lonnnnnnnnng story short, I too have gone through the same. I finally went to Mayo Clinic in April and was tested for everything they could test in a day and a half, costing $4,000. The Drs. decided that I had a "pinched nerve", and sent me to therapy, three times a week, and lots of home exercising in between. The neuroligist did find some muscle damage, that he could not explain. Meanwhile, I was facing a 2,000 mile drive and could not stand to sit in one spot for more than just a few minutes at a time. When I finally got back home and could not stand the pain any longer, I went to my general doctor and he immediately signed my up for the pain clinic here and offered pain pills until I was feeling better. The Doctor at the pain hospital said he would trythe epidermal series first, and if that did not work he had some other procedures. So far I have had two injections ( three weeks apart) and will have my final the 6th of July (if I need it). This has provided the first relief in over 7 months and I am finally getting some energy back. The primary doctor has cut me back to 1/2 pill every three days and it seems to keep my cholestral down. I did start the CoQ10 this week also. And will probably stop the lipitor all together, and go for the Chromium Picolinate, which I purchased last night at my grocery store for $7.50 for 100 tablets. The health food store GNC wanted something like $60 for the same thing!

So life is good at this time and I hope to get my energy back - I have too much yard work ahead of me!

Hope this is helpful. But do ask your doctor to send you to a pain clinic, just to get some relief until you get your system back to somewhat normal.
