Guest guest
Hi everyone, Haven't posted here in quite a while, but I'm still crazy about my Bullworkers (an 80's model X5 and the Steel Bow), and haven't missed any workouts with them since I got back into Bullworker training around the end of last year. I couldn't be happier with the results I'm continuing to get from these workouts. I have a question for you (and anyone else who might care to offer some input). Like I said, I got my X5 in the 80's. It's still working great -- sometimes the straps squeak a bit, but that's no problem. I'm thinking I might like to retire it and get the newer X5 Gold for Christmas, but I'd like to know if there would be enough difference between the Gold and my old model to warrant spending the money. Would there be noticeable improvements? Do the straps on the Gold still go off at unpredictable angles on some of the exercises? Is the Power Meter gauge engraved on the X5 Gold, as opposed to a stick-on strip? Is the X5 Gold the same color as the 80's model (black)? Anything else I should know about the X5 Gold? Thanks! Guest guest
Gentleman, while we are always happy to sell a new unit, we also tell people... "if it is not broken... use it." It is a testimony to the product. The Powermeter on the Gold is a tape meter. High quality, but still a metal tape. The straps will pull the Gold "mostly" on a quick single strap pull. Usually, a steady pull will alleviate this. Unfortunate, but a fact. Again, slow and steady usually prevents this. The rest of the comments can come from the users. I only have the X5 Gold, and yes, grasping single straps can lead to unpredictable angles in movement. has said that this can be minimized by pulling slowly. One technique I do is to put the " joint " near the pulley so that the inner part of the strap gets locked during the pull. Before, I was a bit irritated by this angling when a single strap is pulled. But I noticed lately that it does not really affect the force of the exercise. So now, I mostly don't mind the angle at which the X5G goes off. But I don't do many single strap exercises. Gerry
