Kath,

Thank you for offering your home to us! I too agree that informal first time

around would

be good, with perhaps a little formality around deciding where we go from here.

We may

also want to break into starting out, midway, vs. end of life issues depending

on how long

we are together. Or not. I know I am having concerns with decisions that may

need to be

made regarding end of life.

Hi Kath,

Having Sometimers, I forgot that you were hoping to set something up for

us. Sorry about this as I didn't mean to step on your toes. I will

Yes, the trip was wonderful. We arrived back in Toronto last Sunday, so it has

been a busy week catching up with work, Mom and my daughter as well as the

LBDers on this board. I think I have about 500 emails to read!!!

I got some bites that appeared on Tuesday evening. More on Wednesday evening.

The doctor thinks that I got them in D.R. but that I didn't react until now. I

never felt anything bite me but my legs are covered in bites. It was so itchy

that I returned to the doctor on Thursday to make sure it wasn't something

contagious!!! I had checked for fleas on the cats and there wasn't any, and

besides I have had bites before but not like these. He says they will go away

soon. I hope he is right cause they sure are itchy. I did find that the aloe

vera lotion I had for sunburns worked the best over calamine, cortisone cream or

anything else. Thanks for asking, Doris. I look forward to meeting you!

That sounds great. I also think it would be nice to get to know each other

informally first. When and where? Did you go away already Kath? Did you have a

good trip? Doris

my house, if that's what people would like.

It sounds great. I'm eager to meet others. from Oakville and I have met

for coffee and are going to meet on Monday again. It was so helpful and

gratifying to meet another person with similar experiences and who understands

where we all are in our lives. Do you think it has to be a formal get together

or could we just meet to get to know one another and share experiences,

knowledge etc? Anything is fine with me. How do others feel? Doris from

Mississauga

this meeting would be open to everyone - I've got plenty of room if

anyone would like to come to Toronto.

We can all decide what we want to talk about - outreach, medical,

caregiver support, etc and when we would meet and where.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Hi Kath and Courage,

I am very happy that this is finally happening. When my mom was diagnosed

with Alzheimers I went to a support group and got a lot out of it. I was

disappointed that there was nothing in our area for LBD. Hopefully this will be

the start of something regular.

Would you like us to bring something ie nibblies or desserts or were you even

thinking of having refreshments? Whatever you decide is fine.

My sister who is not on the forum but shares my caregiving for mom would like

to come too.

Take care. Hope your mom's foot is okay Courage. Doris in Mississauga.

Come on down. Hopefully the weather will cooperate whenever we decide to meet.

Looking forward to meeting you. Doris

but I would be interested in meeting with all of you in Toronto. I

am in Midland..only 90 minutes north. I think that my sister, who

has been the main caregiver for Dad would probably also like to go.

Please let me know.

Thanks,

Judy

Anne:

There is not a formal LBD support group in Toronto but several of us

are hoping to get together, probably at Kath's house (in Toronto)

sometime soon. Perhaps this will turn into something regular. I hope

you will be able to come.

Hi ,

I know I'm meeting you soon for coffee but I would suggest at least for myself

that knowing about end of life issues even though they are a long way off for

me, would be helpful. I think that this is why I am able to cope as well as I

am with my mom, because of reading all of the messages on the forum whether she

is at that particular stage or not. Just my own thoughts on this. Anyway I am

game for whatever most of the group decide. I'm just glad to be getting

together. take care. Doris

HI ,

As far as I can tell so far, we are going to get together at Kath's

house for an informal meeting and of couse you can bring your sister. I

would imagine that anyone who is effected by this horrid disease is

welcome.

I vote for each of us bringing something yummy to eat to ease the load

on Kath's shoulders.

Kath, could you please email me your home address?

Thanks,

Courage
