Guest guest
Neurontin doesn't make me drowsy either...but even thought I have less appetite and eat less than normal...I have still gained a lot of weight since starting it.....I don't have the side effects you listed such as dizziness or drowsiness...It hard to say what one Dr. will do or not...My doctor started me on it hoping I could cut back on the Vicodin..but so far even though I've been taking Neurontin for almost a year...I am still taking the same amount of Vicodin....So couldn't possibly guess what a Dr. might do in reducing one med or another...I know for a fact it is helping my pain level because I thought I was so smart and wanted to cut back on it because I had to continue taking Vicodin so thought why take both...I cut back myself without my Dr. being aware and I'm telling you in just two or three day without it I could barely walk...So began again as prescribed, never told my Dr...and have decided not to play with it anymore...It helps so I continue taking both....Jeanne RE: Neurontin To read these messages on the Hugs web site go to: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Hugs-N-Pain you can contact me privately at starlyin@... Guest guest
Jeanne, I know exactly what you mean...I had been only on 300 mg per day until last week. Then Doc increased me to 900 mg per day. I goofed last night ...I was sooo tired that I said I had to lay down...Well, because I am so strict (due to being a nurse) about administration times, I was trying to make it the hour until time for all my meds and I couldnt do it. I fell asleep and missed the PM dose. I woke up at about 5 this morning hurting like crazy. That seems weird that it would catch up to me so quickly but BOY IT DID! I took all my AM meds a little early, and used my TENS to go back to sleep a little later. I think that I LOVE the neurontin already, and I am hoping to stay on it a LONG while. I have already cut back substantially on the Vicodin. YEAH ME! I think that is due to the DURAGESIC patches however. Anyhow, I am just thankful that the pain levels are lowering. I had a solid 2 weeks of pain off the richter scale! <grin> Thank God that is over...and I NEVER want that back.
