Guest guest
I am also one who has wondered about the connection between statin drugs and Alzheimer's Many times I have questioned whether I too was in beginning stages of dementia as my mind is constantly losing thought....plus the inability to reason etc. I was on 40mg of lipitor for three years after by-pass and developed every symptom those on this list have had...muscle myopathy and memory confusion were the worse but eventually got into kidney damage and elevated liver enzymes. Off lipitor and onto zocor (with fewer side effects according to dr)...big joke....just as bad. Took myself off and then agreed to try Zetia......is anyone else on zetia? My body is such a mess now tht I have no idea if the way I feel is from zetia or permenant damage from lipitor and zocor. I have always wondered once I started my research on statin drugs just how many symptoms the elderly have could be attributed to the drugs or just normal aging. My sister who is 76 has a slew of complaints and yet when I tell her it is possible they are from the lipitor she is on she says her doctor tells her it is just normal aging.......being the cynic I have become I often wonder just how much the doctor is going along with the drug companies so he doesn't lose his precious supply of samples plus other perks from the companies. It took me three years to convince my dr that it was the statin drugs that were "killing" me..........he finally agreed and now tells his patients that there will be some who just can't take them and if they are taking them they need to be on Co-enzyme Q-10.... I'll take this as a small victory from my cardio doctor and just keep plugging away to make more people aware of the dangers of statin drugs........and yes I know there are people who say they have no side effects..........and even then I have to wonder............ Guest guest
Congrats on getting your dr. to finally believe you about the side effects and having him tell his patients of the benefits of taking CoQ10. Guest guest
this is a huge victory - all my doctors, including the cardiologist - are in denial and think co Q10 is a waste of money. What is the problem with the medical community??? Guest guest
When they become a dr. they leave their brain in medical school and can no longer think for themselves. They only believe what the pharmaceutical reps. tell them and what the FDA forces them to hear. They cannot think at all, and they back each other. If they don't the medical community will fall and there goes all their toys.
