I was wondering if you all can share approximate costs (and suppliers) of the

various elements of the quintet, and chelation - say ALA & DMS, TTFD and

TD-DMPS,or even Buttar....

How does one purchase the shots, and the creams and what do they run monthly,

what do the tests cost, etc.

My son is 12.5, 5' 5 " , 180lbs

I'm trying to forecast costs...

Best, Ann

Hello Ann,

I am commenting on JUST the ALA and DMSA part of your question.

ALA costs vary from about $10 to $20 for 100 capsules of

100 mg each. If you buy flavored from Kirkman's you can

get smaller doses (like 25 mg I think) but it costs more.

DMSA costs vary GREATLY between OTC and Rx versions.

For example VRP sells a non-prescription DMSA for

$40 for 45 capsules of 100 mg each -- aprox $1 per

capsule. Prescription version is more like $3 to $5

per 100 mg capsule.

You can find more info on sources of ALA and DMSA, and

costs, here:

IMO the expensive parts of the process are lab tests,

doctor visits and amalgam replacement (if needed).

Supplements can also get pricey (but it is all relative.)

good wishes,

Moria

The only differences I am aware of are things like

legal status, how it is sold etc. OTC DMSA is sold

as a supplement, and may say different stuff on the

bottle (not sure).

The DMSA is the same in all cases as far as I'm aware.

Dosages are the same, etc.

The differences are things like cost, company you buy

it from, how you buy it, etc. Insurance certainly

will not pay for OTC--- which will matter to some

people and not to others -- although actually the

price difference is big enough that even with insurance,

OTC may work out better. (This is an individual thing,

depending on your insurance, if any.) Also, with an Rx you

can get DMSA compounded into smaller amounts per capsule.

A drawback with OTC is that the smallest concentration available

is 100 mg per capsule.
