Guest guest
My husband is a database consultant. He programs in Access and is very good at tailoring things to suit what you need in a way that makes sense to you. However, I wonder about the cost. If you all are anything like me, you are not making tons of money doing what you love... His name is Greg Satir. His email is gsatir@.... He is a good translator of "computer" into "regular English," plus he is somewhat fluent in "lactation consultant." -Adrienne Fuson RE: Digest Number 730 My understanding, from talking to the TLC folks, is that this is a very expensive proposition. I don't know that that is actually true, just what they said. Another option we've used to collect data is using Access. I don't know how difficult it is to learn how to program it. If you're just wanting to print a report, a Word document will serve you nicely. Wagner- Messages In This Digest (1 Message) 1. Re: Electronic Documentation From: theshellys@... Wed Oct 11, 2006 4:42 pm (PST) I also have TLCW and am interested in hiring a programmer to adapt it. Would anyone be interested in pooling resources to do that? Guest guest
Cindi, Would you be willing to share your superbill? I'd be so grateful. Imagine others would be, also. Anne Grider, IBCLC

Guest guest
, if several of us contribute, it may be worth his while. i bought TLC with the best intentions but haven't set it up yet. I do an average of 8 consultations a day for Prenatal thru three year olds, and REALLY need to move away from handwritten patient notes and doctor's reports. I'd be happy to contribute the TLC if helpful for a starting point. I have an idea of a setup with lots of pull downs, check lists etc. Problem is I have very little time to put towards the project, and minimal computer skills. I could help with some financial contribution, and my vision of what I'd think would be helpful Pat
Guest guest
I would also be willing to contribute. I tried to use acces to build a program but failed miserably as I am a very basic computer user. Let me know what I can do. I think the chip-in deal is a win/win for everyone. Guest guest
Hi, I checked with a Access programmer here and gave him all the specifications of the job and asked for an estimate... His preliminary estimate was at least $5000. Yowza! I'd personally rather not spend more than $100-200 more on a program, seeing as how I've spend so much on the TLC program already. So, Adrienne, what would your husband charge for such a program done in Access? Maybe someone (not me, I don't like the guy) could contact the TLC programmer and see how much he'd charge to make it so that we can let our "solution" field be more than 35 characters (or whatever the limitation is), be able to format the contact "report" and whatever else we would put on a list.... Maybe we should just make a list of our 'wants'?I do agree that it makes sense to pool our resources on this.Regards, Cindi RE: Digest Number 730 My understanding, from talking to the TLC folks, is that this is a very expensive proposition. Guest guest
Hi, Cindi. My husband's email is gsatir@.... He would be able to give you an estimate for your dream program (or, heck, even for your "good enough" program). He is easy to talk to and a great computer-speak-translator. Or maybe modifiying TLC is the way to go since you're already invested so much in it. Good luck on your quest. Yours warmly, Adrienne Fuson RE: Digest Number 730 My understanding, from talking to the TLC folks, is that this is a very expensive proposition. Guest guest
Hi Cindi and all- Definitely ask around! I'm sure you can find someone who would do it for less. Our Coalition had a more complicated program done and it was $500, including consultation, teaching us how to use it, making changes as needed, etc. Wagner-
