uggh donna.. I am same way.. plus for all my dog stuff I need peripheral vision and glasses don't do it.. What is funny is a lot of guys like the way I look in glasses.. enhances my nerd appeal (if being a PhD in economics with minor in statistics isn't nerdy enough!!)Caps won little break to walk dog until I go to next event :)party girl judy..To:

Hi Judy!I hope your eye is feeling better. I once scratched my cornea w/ an ill fitting pair of contacts - it hurt like heck and actually took a long time to heal and I couldn't wear my contacts for a few weeks - which was a bummer b/c I have really bad eyesight and contacts correct it better than glasses. (Plus, I learned that lenses also keep junk like pollen & other allergens out of your eyes b/c the whole time I was wearing my glasses my eyes burned!)

Take care -

Donna

Hi ,

I do believe there are exercises you can do to, in theory, improve your vision. But near sightedness (being able to see up close, but not far away) is actually almost like a "structural" condition where the image doesn't hit the proper part of your retina to see it clearly. Also, with astigmatism, it is the shape of your eye (cornea??) that is off - I think astigmatism is something you are born with. I only have it in one eye, but my DD has it in both eyes and, her astigmatism is pretty severe. Far sightedness as you get older is the result of a weakening of your eye muscles -

Contacts really aren't too bad once you get used to them. I have worn them since high school. I'm a little leary of Lasik, though. So, as long as I can do contacts I'm ok w/ skipping the Lasik thing! However, If I couldn't wear contacts, I probably would get Lasik b/c I really just don't see well in glasses - and, as Judy noted, you have no peripheral vision w/ glasses.

Take care!Donna

I am terrified of wearing contacts and can't stand to watch people put them in! Lasik surgery? Forget it! I'll only do that for when I have cataracts someday! They should make workout videos for your eyes to strengthen them or something so that you don't need corrective lenses.Just a thought.
