Guest guest
Thanks to all for your responses.... About us, I went to the Dr and my rapid strep test was neg but they cultured it and put me on antibiotics anyways (until the results come in). And I feel sooooo much better after 24 hrs of ceftin. As for Zach....he's another story.....He started the amoxil on Mon and progressively got worse and worse....I spoke w/the ped last night when his temp was 102.5 and he was coughing terribly and he said let it ride til am. Then I spoke w/him this am and he said keep an eye on it & call if if I feel he needs to be seen. By noon Zach's temp was 103.5.....so we went in. Well the Dr wanted to do a CBC, blood culture and IV Rocefin....they could not access a vein....they finally got one accessed long enough to draw but when they started the flush it blew. So they went to plan " B " . Shots!!!! that was the worst thing in my life. I totally lost my composure. Poor Zach....he dealt w/all the sticks of accessing w/no tears, he's a really tough little fellow....and he did ok w/the poke of the shot, but as soon as they started putting the fluid in he gave a bloody murder scream. He was screaming, MOM WHEN'S THE PAIN GOING TO STOP? He wanted to get up right away, jumped off the table and fell down in pain. I felt so bad. then in the midst of all of this, he looked at me and asked, what are YOU crying about? and just then I realized, I always hold my composure...but not today The Dr thinks that Zach has some sort of " secondary " infection on top of the strep. We have to go back in tomarrow. And THANK GOD, Tom's on his way home. I'll keep you all posted,
Guest guest
- One of the few times I've broken down and cried over this hateful little disease is when Macey got her IM Rocephin shots in December. Even today Macey asks me if I'm going to cry every time we go into the hospital. Its the thing that she remembers the most. Did the CBC show anything? I'm glad you're feeling better and if there is anything I can do please feel free to let me know. I hope Zach's fever has come down some with the Rocephin and that he's resting more comfortably. Hope Tom has a safe trip home and that the weekend holds some improvement. Ursula - & Macey (4 yr old w/CVID) mom
