hopefully you are not a beer drinker lol :-)

Thanks Sandi for the quick reply...and yes I occassionally have a beer,

maybe 2 or 3 times a year..lol, so I don't think that would apply. They gave me

a

big shot of demerol which said would knock me out, but didn't do anything but

make me a little drowsy, but did take the edge off a little bit. And thanks

for clearing up the " brain freeze " on the uric acid. They gave me a

prescription for a anti-inflammatory which I have a real touchy stomach so I

don't know

how long I am gonna be able to take them, which has quieted it down. Like I

told the doctor, I live with pain every day, I have pherphial neuropathy and

rsd, both of which are nerve damgage and which this gout episode kicked them

both in gear too, but this is bone pain and I have the beginnings of RA in that

foot, too. Soooo much fun not being young !! lol I am having work done on

my orthodic which I had made for a heel spur last year and it took care of that

fine, but made me walk on the outside of my foot and wear down the fat pad

under my little toe to where I was walking on bone, so they " revved up " my

insert while they are making new ones, and put the padding I needed to stop the

little toe pain and I think that is what started this pain cause it put all the

pain under my big toe. CRAZY, ain't it. Soooo, I won't bore you any longer

and again, thanks for the quick reply. I wonder if anti-inflammatories are all

they can give?

Hugs,

Cheryl

another give away for gout besides the redness, swelling, tenderness, PAIN,

It would be hard to tell, cause my foot is so purple from the pn, but it did

have red in it which I just always took to be the rsd flaring up.

they check uric acid - if the uric acid level is high it would indicate you have

gout. if you are prone to gout I do know that drinking beer can trigger a flare

up of it - hopefully you are not a beer drinker lol :-)

did they give you medicine for it, or are they waiting to see if the uric acid

level is elevated?

good luck, and hope it gets better soon

Anyone know anything about gout?

Dear Friends,

I know I have't written for ages, and I apologize. I have been down with

a chest cold and now have been hit with what the doc's think is gout. All I

know is that it is the worst pain I ever felt in my big toe and it has caused

my neuropathy and RSD to bloom full fledge! I was at the doc's office friday

(remind sometime to fill you in on that bunch of crap! lol) and they took

blood to check the crystals level...I cannot for the life of remember what it

was,

so please forgive the ignorance! lol I will know Monday if those levels are

high, which I'm s ure they will be because of the pain levels along with

swelling and redness. Seems as if I can't get a break here anymore. I was

finally

starting to feel somewhat better from the cold and BAM!! this hits.

Sorry to go on my own pity party. Just wondered if anyone had ever had gout?

Thanks Rose....It sure seems to come in bundles, doesn't it. I have really

been working hard at the Y exercising and starting to really feel better, then

WHAM! this crap hits. I was walking 2 miles on cushioned track but my foot

got so bad I had to give that up and am working more on the bikes and machines

and lifting weights which is really helping. My doc was saying something about

my blood pressure med having a water pill in it, but I was hurting so bad I

don't know what the connection would have been. I cannot believe how bad a

person's big toe could hurt! lol Then my sister in law called while I had the

" froggy voice " and said I should call the doc for that cause that is the third

time this year I have had a chest cold! lol She just never seems to see the

good in anything. Didn't mean to yak on so long...how have you been doing

anyway? I sure miss our chats.

what kind of anti inflammatory did they give you?

Sandi, It is Indomethacin 50 mg. It said on the prescrition that it is used

for arthritis and gout, so hopefully it is a good one, but I sure know it is

tearing my stomach up.

this is the med u are on ..you are just on the generic for this and here are

some things that cause gout

Uricinexâ„¢ is a potent blood fortifier that helps renew both your kidney and

your liver at the cellular level. That's the key to how Uricinexâ„¢ works so

well and so quickly. Your body wants to get the gout out but it needs YOU to

work WITH your body naturally!

You will be completely amazed at how fast your body can get the gout out.

Your body wants to get better and it has the ability to do this quickly with

Uricinexâ„¢

The other cause of common gout is from eating certain rich foods, which

include alcohol, scallops, shrimp, sardines, red meat, gravy, cream sauces,

organ

meats, dried peas and legumes. They all create what we call purines, which

results in your liver making more uric acid than you want or need in your

body.

For whatever reason, whether you have gout from eating rich food and drink,

or have a weakened kidney system as the result of side effects from using

pharmaceutical drugs, Dr. Thao's Uricinexâ„¢ is specifically designed to target

and relieve your gout pain and suffering safely and efficiently!

Tawny, they prescribed an anti-inflammatory drug, indomethacin, which does

help the pain but tears my stomach up. I have fever blisters, too, which are

caused by this and any anti-inflammatory I take. It is aggravating that they

can't come up with a med that is easier on a person's stomach. Thanks for

replying to my message.

Hugs,

Cheryl
