Guest guest
Does anyone else have a problem with watches? My left wrist is swollen enough, that my watch bothers me whenever I wear it. I can still wear it on the right one, but that wrist is just beginning to get sore, so no doubt the swelling isn't far behind. Do leather bands work better than stretch ones, or do you just have to buy bigger bands as your joints swell? I know this is strange, but I'm sick of my watch pinching. Guest guest
Thanks, . I almost feel stupid for asking such simple questions, when people here are having major surgeries and more serious health problems. But sometimes it's the little day to day stuff that you have to learn to live with that is a nuisance. To Liz and the other " youngsters " on the list. Nice to meet you, sorry you are here, but I have only been here for maybe a month, and I feel like I have found a new family. Very supportive and understanding. I'm 48, but new to RA too, and I think what ever stage of life you are at, the DX of RA is overwhelming. It's like a continual new learning experience in a lesson you don't want to have. But on the other hand, my DX gave me a sense of peace, knowing that yes, they do have treatments for it, and much more effective treatments than my Dad was able to get 30 years ago when he was diagnosed. Even in his case, with joint replacements and medication, he lived a full life for many years, learning to make adjustments along the way with what he could and could not do. This list has people who have had RA for a long time, with all it's problems, and new people, like you and me. I know it's hard, but try not to dwell on the scary stuff, take it day by day, and learn to adapt as you go. We'll get through this, and the people here are very supportive. Guest guest
Noreen It isn't a weird question. I prefer the stretch bands myself. That way if my wrist does want to swell I will be comfortable for a while. You don't want have to keep changing the length on a leather one especially if your fingers are bothering you and you don't want to ask some stranger to help. Guest guest
Now that is a point I hadn't thought of. You would have to have help to get the leather one shut. Thanks. Guest guest
Noreen, when I wear a watch now, I wear a gold " Mother & Child " pendant motif type watch you wear on a long chain from your neck. I think I ordered it off HSN last year. I love it. It doesn't bother me, and my arms are " free " . I have swelling also, but also have such thin Skin from " whatever " ... till anything like a watch makes the purpura like marks on my arms. For some reason, loose bracelets don't bother me. Guest guest
Susie, Thanks for the input. I like the different ideas people have given me, neck wear sounds like a good idea. Maybe I'll look into that. Thanks Noreen Re: [ ] Weird question Noreen, when I wear a watch now, I wear a gold " Mother & Child " pendant motif type watch you wear on a long chain from your neck. Guest guest
LOL Deidre: Maybe it's the freezing cold weather making you crazy huh?? LOL Seriously, I've read several other posts similar to yours about missing their baby's helmet!! You're not alone. Personally, heck no, I was more than ready to be done, but it's not all that uncommon. Sometimes, the baby even misses their helmets! Guest guest
Hi Deidre, I don't think that is weird because I am experiencing mixed feeling with 's grauation coming up! I am going to be happy to have him out of the band, but in other ways, I am sad this journey is coming to an end. In a strange way, I am going to miss going to our appointments at CT, decorating his helmet every few weeks or so with new stickers, seeing Matt in his cute little band, and having the opportunity to educate the people who took the time to ask what it was for (as opposed to just staring!). /DOC/10-7-03 @10mos./PA scheduled to graduate 2/13/04Blondee10@... wrote: Okay, those of you who graduated... did any of you MISS the helmet? Guest guest
Hi Deidre, I know what you are talking about. I had a hard time parting with Makenna's helmet. It had become a part who she was kind of. And then there was the whole " regression " fear to top it all off (which never happened). I still miss it at times. . > Okay, those of you who graduated... did any of you MISS the helmet? I kinda > do! He was so cute in it and I am missing all the attention we got! Isn't that > weird? Guest guest
Deidre, I missed 's band when she graduated. I was just so use to seeing her in it, she looked " weird " to me without it. It took a while for me to get used to. > Okay, those of you who graduated... did any of you MISS the helmet? I kinda > do! He was so cute in it and I am missing all the attention we got! Guest guest
Deidre, I don't think you are weird at all! I was thinking about that very topic yesterday when we took Aidan to Rivertown (a local mall.) What is it like to go out without having people look at you? How does it feel just to be another mom, with another cute baby? That being said, I also cannot wait to be able to go out looking without worrying about how I look- because we will be just another mom and baby at the mall, etc. and not the " center of attention!
