Guest guest
If you have a compromised liver and need pain relief, PLEASE CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR before taking any OTC pain meds -- Tylenol (acetaminophen) or NSAIDs (asprin, ibuprophen, etc.) When first saw a hepatologist, the hepatologist said -- and this is a direct quote -- " I will give you a prescription for morphine. It is better for your liver than Tylenol. You are NEVER to take Tylenol or any other OTC pain reliever. " I'm glad Fuzzy is able to tolerate Tylenol, and wish could. When was taking Tylenol it really helped his leg pain. But now when his leg pain gets bad, takes the lowest-dose time-release morphine. As always, each patient is an individual. Consult your own doctor about what's best for you. Dorothy Fuzzy wrote: Tylenol...it is about the only pain reliever we can use and only in moderation. A doctor told me not to take more than 2,000 mgs a week and on a full stomach. I have learned to live without it. How do I deal with pain? Hot baths, lay flat without a pillow and elevate my legs for about 20 minutes. And preventive measures...Tai Chi Chuan, yoga or stretching. How often do you hear a cat complain about pain?
