Guest guest
Hi, Jan, Something Donna R. wrote made me think of something about Hospice. I was not getting any help from my Dad's doctor on home health care or hospice. He said we didn't qualify for home health care or hospice. I figured out he does not really know what LBD is (which was shocking to me after all these years) This is Dad's primary care physician, not his neuro. I was just at my wits end with Dad. I cannot take him out of the house anymore to get to the doctor and the doctor won't come to us, so I was just going bonkers with things. Anyhoo, one hospice came out and said we didn't qualify, but then I spoke to another hospice and they said we did qualify. We have had hospice for a couple of months now. They do not bathe Dad or anything, but I know it is available. I just have to give Dad his showers whenever he will let me. It is hard to schedule Hospice to come out to shower him because he won't want a shower whenever they are here. The nurse does come out though and checks him and gives me medical advice whenever I need help. She reports back to the doctor if we need further assistance. There have been so many times over the last three months that I thought Dad was going to pass away so I am glad to have some medical advice during these times. Maybe trying another hospice would work. I can't imagine anyone turning you down when you tell them your story - stress how long it has been and you are doing this caregiving all by yourself. I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Love and hugs, Piper
