Guest guest
Hi Lawanda, I'm late answering this note because I just got to my e-mail this morning. But I really wanted to answer it. I'm sure, by now, you've heard more than enough about motivation and diet control, so I won't repeat what's already been said. But, I want to share two shocks I received when I attended my second diabetes self care class this past Monday. I'll just share them and let them speak for themselves. First, we were told, as diabetics, to assume that we have already had our first heart attack. Second, the most powerful tool in the diabetic's toolkit is exercise. Thanks, Walt
Guest guest
Hi All, , you make a very good point about the yogurt being good for a certain type of infections. That's definitely true. Although I'm sure you're aware of this fact, I wanted to point out to others who may not be that this statement holds true only when the yogurt contains live cultures, and not all yogurt does. Guest guest
Hi All, Cooking bacon in the microwave also works well especially if you like your bacon crisp. Regards, Mindy
Guest guest
If memory serves me correctly, you would bake the bacon at 400 for 12 minutes. But, watch the time carefully because I'm going by memory of having read this item several years ago. Thanks, Walt RE: a question Hi All, Cooking bacon in the microwave also works well especially if you like your bacon crisp. Guest guest
I remember that it is 400 for ten minutes, and that seems to be about right if you preheat your oven, if you don't, and I sometimes don't, more time is needed. Guest guest
You can get acidophalus--maybe that is how it is spelled--pills or the same in liquid form that does the same thing. As we diabetic women are plagued with those infections, it is good to know about the pills and liquid incase you don't happen to be one who eats a lot of yogurt. Guest guest
A nutritionist told me that Special K is high in vitamins but not in fiber. Do you know how much fiber it has? Thanks! Guest guest
No, I am sorry but I don't. Check the label, if you can, or get someone to do it for you. I just like the taste and don't have to concern myself with fiber right now as Glucophage takes care of that for me. Guest guest
Thank you Mindy and each of you who gave such excellent suggestions. I like heat and eat foods. Does anyone have a preference re egg substitutes which are frozen over those which are sold cold? I was thinking some egg substitute and sugar free Carnation Slender would be a stick to your ribs breakfast. hmmmm Rita
Guest guest
I have used egg substitutes which are refrigerated in my supermarket. They usually have a pretty long shelf life which can be extended by freezing. LaWanda09:56 PM 11/7/01 -0600, you wrote: >Thank you Mindy and each of you who gave such excellent suggestions. Guest guest
Hi Lawanda, Please, explain your comment about not having to worry about fiber because glucophage takes care of that for you. I don't understand the connection. Thanks, Walt
Guest guest
It was a bit esoteric, and I don't want to get too much more graphic, but ever since I have been taking Glucophage, my elimination system is in fine working condition, thank you. All I have to do is eat a salad, and a lot of times even if I don't, look out! Guest guest
Not everyone gets past the glucophage diarreha problem. It can persist for a lifetime with some, I know this for certain. Fortunately, most people get past this in a few weeks. It is said that a shot of single malt Scotch every evening ameliarates the problem, it is also said that prime rib costs ten cents a pound, I'd rather believe the first assertion. If it is not true, you still can enjoy the Scotch while, well, while exercising the problem. Dan
Guest guest
This is realy about Take Off Pounds Sensibly but I couldn't figure out how to change the subject line. Go to www.tops.org and you can find a meeting in your area. I'm a member but have not lost much weight yet. I'm not giving up though. Let me know if you have any more questions. If you have trouble with that web site, there is an 800 number on the website where you can call and ask for one in your zip code area. Like I said, let me know if you need any more help. Guest guest
How long have you been on Glucophage? I'm aware that after taking it for a while, the problem goes away. Guest guest
I haven't been on Glucophage for tht long and I had to build up to taking three a day, but now I do and the problems in my digestive area are manageable. In fact, they are kind of welcome because I used not to be able to move without a laxative or seven. I know that the problem goes away soon, too, because my doctor told me that they did, but I hope it won't be too soon.
