Guest guest
I'm doing a translation of sleep research and find myself confused by the way in which the terms Ableitung(en), ableiten are used. Sometimes I think the " lead(s), " but other times it seems that " tracings " or " recordings " is what is meant. Does German have that range of meanings for these terms? The title is: Empfehlungen zur Durchfuehrung und Auswertung polygraphischer Ableitungen im diagnostischen Schlaflabor. I have " Recommendations for positioning and evaluating polygraphic leads in the diagnostic sleep laboratory. " But then again, many of the hits I get for Ableitung seem to imply that it is the actual tracing or recording. Could it be " Recommendations for conducting and analyzing polygraphic recordings/tracings in the diagnostic sleep laboratory. " ??? Here is another example: 1. Die einkanalige Ableitung muss so registriert werden, dass neben der R-Zacke die P- und T-Wellen gut erkannt werden. In this case it seems likely that a lead is meant. Any thoughts appreciated.
