Guest guest
I spoke with the ocd specialist that we will be taking my son to, at the end of the month and she said that we will begin by doing cbt with him. She said that if cbt doesn't work, then we will go to plan b, which I forgot to ask what that is. But anyway, after doing more reading on ocd, I am kind of curious how cbt will help my son. He only has repetitive thoughts, for the most part. So, I see it that he only has obsessions, no compulsions. I wonder if what he has is a different disease? Any thoughts? Oh, also, as I'm reading the book, " Freeing Your Child From OCD " by Chansky I am noticing that my son does do some other things that might be ocd stuff or just anal? because he doesn't always do them. For instance, he usually tucks his shoe laces in after he ties them so that they aren't hanging down. He has to have his pants and snowpants just right over his boots. He won't wear a shirt if the sleeves are a little bit too long. He has to have his sweatshirt/coat pulled down over the top of his gloves. He holds us up on all this stuff and has over the last couple of years. We're trying to get out the door and he has to have something rebuckled, pulled down, tucked in, etc. in a certain way. So, is that OCD? I am confused because I don't see Obsessions and Compulsions. I just see anal. (Sorry, not sure how else to word it.) Could someone help me see the light, here? Thanks!
