Guest guest
Hi Elliot, I certainly can't speak to everyone's experience but my experience ran rather smoothly. Perhaps it has to do with my living in Toronto, Canada (different countries have different approaches to providing care), the individuals involved in supplying the information or that I am not caregiving from a distance. Even thought my sister (a lawyer) has POA I was able to get all the paperwork well in advance of my mother's first appointment, filled in all the paperwork, worked with my mom's doctor to have his portion filled out and then booked all the appointments to have my mother plugged into the system. I attended any and all the meetings and in the end told my sister where to sign. It worked out and I was happy to help. I'm sorry to hear that this has not been the case for you. Also, please don't worry overmuch about your MIL's lack of manners. What I wouldn't give to see my mother hold a sandwich (without a plate underneath) and bring it up to her own mouth.
