Guest guest
Hi all, my good news is that I did not have a cervix (was taken with a hysterectomy 17 years ago. Thank u doc) and there was no cancer inside the vagina. great news..... Not so good news... i went in to have the dark place outside the vagina taken off but after the colposcopy (test done looking for cancer) was done the doctor found the entire area outside the vagina.....the entire area all parts are cancerous. i am going to have to have a vulvaectomy done, she took another biopsy to stage the cancer..........UMMMM SOMEONE FORGOT TO STAGE IT on the ORIGINAL BIOPSY.....so we are waiting for the stage and then i go to the cancer doctor he is an oncologist OBGYN - UNFORTUNATELY.........vulvar cancer is very aggressive and the prognosis on it is about 5 yrs, it has a nasty way of re occurring over and over again...... so i will have to have radical surgery perhaps including the clitoris and the anus..... someone needs to getout the morphine......cause this sounds like it hurts, to compare it in a male it would be like removing the penis and the testicles. So I guess I have to decide do I pick life or do I pick love button? Please if any one has any ?'s pleasssseeeeee ask, this is a very personal cancer BUT ONCE AGAIN it is a virus that causes it that 80% of the population has and does not even know it, so it can happen to you. It is extremely contagious, u can get it from using someone's damp towel that has it. And it is getting no attention........ Cause noone wants to talk about such private matters. So ask away. I must have got this for a reason and if can educate someone just alitle about it..... Lori, cervical cancers are from this HPV virus, I know it is treatable if caught early but easier to prevent it that to treat it and it is only treated well in developing countries, 4 our sisters in other counties it is the biggest killer there is..... Did u know every time u are having a pap done they are looking for changes made from the HPV virus???? Most women do not know this. I didn't. I had never heard of it. be well all thank you for your love and support Gwen
Guest guest
Dear Gwen; You sound like such a strong, amazing woman! So sorry to hear about your cancer. It sounds so unbearable, I don't know how you do it. It makes me feel embarrased to complain about small daily symptoms. I totally believe that people such as yourself are put on the planet to educate and illuminate. I hope you get lots of opportunity to talk about your situation and experience so that the world can benifit from your presence of bright white light. My thoughts and prayers are with you; Regards; _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com
Guest guest
It makes me feel embarrased to complain about small daily symptoms. Please do not ever feel embarrassed about anything. I too, have those same aches and pain and problems with the MS, or I have had them and can offer suggestions on how to handle it. all problems are important and that is why we have this group. Guest guest
Hi Gwen 1. As to the guy equivalent, it's not so bad as you might think - at least the gelding part. In some times in history, guys would do this to themselves! A funny non-example. Haydn as you know was a fantastic composer. Well he was also a wonderful boy soprano. So when he was 12 the priests went to his father and asked if they could make Haydn junior into a "castrato". This is what they called singers, who by being castrated as boys, retained their soprano voices and could sing the high parts because in those days women were not allowed to perform. It was an honourable profession in its day! Fortunately Haydn senior answer "No, because he wanted some little Haydns." And so also, we have that wonderful music. 2. I found this link last year when my father got his esophogael cancer ( a crisis through which he passed ). It is an essay by Jay Gould, a happy biologist you may have seen on TV, telling about his surviving a very bad cancer. His point is that when the doctors say so many years, they are telling a truth, but they don't understand statistics. Such a number is a median. This means one half the population is dead by that time, the other half isn't dead yet. BUT GOULD SAYS, THIS CURVE IS NOT A BELL CURVE. That second half of the people live over a stretched out period of time, some even with complete remission. So the trick of survival is to find out what distinguishes the group in the right hand stretched out side of that curve. He did and he survived. http://www.cancerguide.org/median_not_msg.html Gwen, you like Gould, have a lot of survivalist qualities that suggest you will be in the second half. I'm sure you'll learn the details required of this strategy. Cheers Jock

Guest guest
Hello Gwen, I truly admire your courage and determination. I find this to be an inspiration in my every day. Thank you. Don't forget to take some support as well. Giving support all the time and not taking some back, although noble indeed, is sometimes not healthy. Peace on the journey, stay in touch. Peace, Ed
Guest guest
Don't forget to take some support as well I am taking all I can get! I just called the cancer institute of America. U know u see the commercials all the time for it. they treat the whole person and just not the cancer. Hoping my insurance pays for it. I at least want a second opioion. the air fare is included with the cost of seeing the doctor (gesh wonder howmuch that is)? Anyway the place is a hospital but not like a hospital. They give spiritual and nutritional and emotional support to their patients. along with surgery and chemo and conventional medicine. They even have eastern doctors there. They also have u see the chiropractor and the holistic doctors as well along with massage and reflexology, sort of the best of both worlds approach. Love, Gwen Gwen, I don't have any personal experience with the cancer institute, but knowing what they have there, I would think you'd be much better off with them than an ordinary hospital/cancer doctor situation.
