Guest guest
Hi everyone, I've come across the word " définitive " many times in my translation. It always describes a lesion or visual loss. On acid burns for example: La lésion initiale peut-être considérée comme définitive. And one under contusions and the posterior segment: Elles disparaîtront sans séquelle, sauf dans la région maculaire (baisse d'acuité visuelle définitive). Is " definitive " the proper English translation? Thank you all for your help. .....
Guest guest
Permanent, in each case. Guest guest
Non, " permanent " , following the numerous articles read. Nevertheless, I don't mean that irreversible is not useds in English, but the later sounds more as a typical European daptation than " permanent " . For intance, ask Google (Web, not " French " ) for " permanent loss of visual acuity " = 78 hits. " Irreversible los of visual acuity " )= 15 hits. L'irréversibilité est un concept français, qui plus est non contenu implicitement dans la " permannce " anglo-saxone.
