Am new to posting here even though i joined a while back, i am

curious to know if anyone has experienced something similar. My

hubby originally had a stroke almost 8 years ago, and for the first

18 months or so was in reasonable health (although it was evident he

had some form of dementia) -until he began collapsing and from there

his health deteriorated. A diagnosis of Epilepsy was eventually

given. His health continued to deteroriate to the point where he

was falling, his walking became very poor and eventually another

diagnosis was made of probable LBD. I looked after him for almost

5 years 24/7 with a bit of help from the local caregivers, which

only really alleviated me a brief respite for an hour a day. Family

eventually all said " Mum you can't go on this is wrecking your own

health " and i must admit i had to agree as i was loosing weight

among other things. So, hubby was put into local resthome and for

the first six months remained in the resthome area, his health

continued to go downhill and they ended up reviewing him and

regraded him to hospital level. Slowly his health picked up and

now almost 3 years later his health has regained so much - his

walking has improved, his ability mentally has improved - I can't

get over the change in him, he uses a walker all the time and this

has helped his balance. the only thing that has changed is that

they removed some of his epilepsy drugs, not completely but lowered

the dosage. (he has had no episodes now for 3 yrs) It's almost as if

he has gone into a recession. Mind you i know that a stable

enviroment is essential and he certainly gets that. Ok he gets

confused at times etc., and finds it difficult to do things, but why

the change? Does LBD have that ability to level out for a period

of time? Has anyone else had this happen? I keep wondering how

long this good spell is going to last. He is on Prozac also as

this keeps him from getting moody and aggressive. Thoughts please.
