Guest guest
Hi Indy, What exercises are not recommended? I actually went over to the site, and here is a link for Darcy: http://www.livestrong.com/article/128981-exercises-sciatic-nerve-pain-pregnant/ Take care!Donna To: exercisevideos Sent: Tue, March 22, 2011 10:00:39 PMSubject: Back exercises I've been doing some websurfing, waiting for the doctor appointment to get set up. www.livestrong.com has quite a bit of information on things to do with sciatica due to a herniated disc. (Sorry, Darcy, it doesn't say anything about pregnancy...)It says a rebounder can be a good tool (no bouncing, just marching) as well as gentle bouncing on a stability ball.It seems I have been doing some big "no-no's," and it's a wonder that I haven't had problems before now. It had been a few years since I had problems with it, I assumed it was healed enough to try more exercises. Wrong. And I figured out a little late that trying high impact was a major mistake, and I blame that for my current flare. It was nice for the very short time it lasted. Are there other sites that give useful exercise advice like Livestrong.com?Indyrose
Guest guest
Thanks Donna! I've searched high and low myself to see if I could find out any additional info. I'll check this site out when I get a chance. My internet is being TERRIBLE today D  Hi Indy, What exercises are not recommended? I actually went over to the site, and here is a link for Darcy:  http://www.livestrong.com/article/128981-exercises-sciatic-nerve-pain-pregnant/  Take care!Donna To: exercisevideos Sent: Tue, March 22, 2011 10:00:39 PMSubject: Back exercises I've been doing some websurfing, waiting for the doctor appointment to get set up. www.livestrong.com has quite a bit of information on things to do with sciatica due to a herniated disc. Guest guest
Interesting, thanks, Indyrose. I don't have a herniated disc (at least not that I'm aware of) but too much twisting (as in kickboxing) can be troublesome for me. I can do some, but not a ton. Impact seems ok for me but bouncing on a trampoline, moonbounce, etc. isn't great. I did read the article on the weight lifting exercises to avoid - I do agree that for me forward bending w/ improper form is bad! My chiro did tell me to avoid overhead lifts - but I can do them in moderation w/out troubles. I do avoid squating w/ weights on my shoulders though! I will read the rest - thanks for sharing. And, whatever you do, don't give up - you can ALWAYS find a way to workout and work around your limitations!! Donna To: exercisevideos Sent: Wed, March 23, 2011 11:58:24 AMSubject: Re: Indyrose - Back exercises & link for Darcy They said to avoid *any* high impact stuff, including running, high impact aerobics and any type of bouncing/jumping. Twisting of the trunk is to be avoided, too, including some oblique sit-ups. I thought my back had healed enough, and been strengthen enough through months of exercise, so I could take some high impact, but I was obviously wrong. It was almost 4 years ago since I injured it. I'm hearing now that it may get better, but it never really heals. There are many interesting articles out there on sciatica and back injuries in general.http://www.livestrong.com/article/213196-what-yoga-poses-to-avoid/http://www.livestrong.com/article/336655-weightlifting-exercises-to-avoid-with-sciatica/http://www.livestrong.com/article/246557-sciatica-exercises-to-avoid/Indyrose--- In exercisevideos , Donna M-P wrote:>> Hi Indy,> > What exercises are not recommended? > > I actually went over to the site, and here is a link for Darcy:> > http://www.livestrong.com/article/128981-exercises-sciatic-nerve-pain-pregnant/> > Take care!> > Donna> > > > > ________________________________> > To: exercisevideos > Sent: Tue, March 22, 2011 10:00:39 PM> Subject: Back exercises> >  > I've been doing some websurfing, waiting for the doctor appointment to get set > up. www.livestrong.com has quite a bit of information on things to do with > sciatica due to a herniated disc.
