Guest guest
Perhaps I can speak for some of these kids who are reacting badly to mb12. I'm a CFS patient, and I'm finding that I can't tolerate more than 50 mcg injected once every three days or so. It makes me hyper -- to the point where it affects my heartbeat -- and very, very irritable. I figure it must have something to do with a glitch in my methylation pathway. Maybe some of the kids who "regress" on mb12 would do better on a lower dose. As for folinic acid, I haven't tried it yet, but I'd welcome any clarification. Ellen It's Sheryl again... I was wondering if you could clarify for me what you mean by your son "regressing" on the mB12? With my son, he definitely got hyper, woke up really early, and did a lot of flapping and scripting. Now, my son has always done arm flapping and scripting, so I never considered this a regression, rather I assumed that the increase in hyperactivity was due to the folinic acid. (BTW, when I called Coastal, they said that most of their patients that request the mb12 without the folinic is because of hyperactivity) As you can tell from my previous posts, I am really confused as to the next type of nasal b 12 to order. Some reactions go hand in hand. For example, if your child is doing more jumping around, and more scripting, then he has less time and attention for eye contact and interaction. Anyway, I'm just rambling on now, but, I'd love to hear other's perspectives on this. Thanks, Sheryl .
Guest guest
Ellen, you got it - lower doses. This is what we have been noticed our son might do better on... he has been on the shots since November, and although it was great to in the beginning, a month or so ago he started being hyper for a day or two after the shot. And he gets a slight spotty rash on his cheeks and chin. We also noticed that if we skip a day, he actually does very well on day four (the 'skipped' day), he is usually quite calm. So we now give the shot every four days, and were planning to try extending the schedule to five days. Of course, lower doses every three days might be even better. As we saw such great results in the first couple of months and I would be reluctant to stop b12 altogether, but after reading the posts on hydroxyB12 it looks like that could be the way to go. Also, from what I picked up on Amy Yasko's forum, our son is VERY likely COMT++, which would explain him being saturated with mb12. Guest guest
Hi Ellen, What do you feel from the 50 mcg injected and how are you injecting it? IM or Sub-Q? - Stan > > Perhaps I can speak for some of these kids who are reacting badly to mb12. Guest guest
Stan, It makes me irritable, depressed, and fuzzy-headed. I'm injecting it sub-q.
