In my situation I know my body is not absorbing what it should. Although things are much better in that category. Also, I agree with you the less animal products you eat the more lean you are.

good to know I am not alone in skinniness.

KC,

I think any of us who are on some kind of 'MS diet' will be too thin, unless we are VERY creative. When I first went on my diet, I lost over 30 pounds and there was a woman at work who lectured me every day about anorexia. It was ridiculous that I had to defend my healthy diet as I sat there eating a big salad, while the rest of the office munched on doughnuts and fast food! I was absolutely shocked that they knew so little about nutrition that they could think they were living a healthier lifestyle than I was. One day our boss walked by, as she was giving me the usual speech about anorexia, and said, "Jackie, you're just jealous". No one ever mentioned anorexia again.

Hi guys,

I too am too thin. It is amazing how people envy thinness. For example

last winter I went with a friend to her friend's house. Here I am stumbling

around and all I got from her was how disgusted she was with herself and how

skinny I am. To walk normally or to be 10 pounds overweight, its such a

hard decision.

I used to get the skinny thin a lot at work too, never mind I had trouble

standing there talking to people. I call this reverse discrimination.

Agreed. It is so depressing is to hear healthy people tell me I'm lucky to

be slim. Yes, yes....I'd rather be 10 or 15 or even 50 pounds overweight

than to be plagued by MS. People need to think before they shoot off their

mouths like that. Betsy

Thanks to all who commiserated on the skinny issue! If I find anything that

helps me put on weight I'll let you know.

People are always telling me to eat breads, pastas and animal products to

gain weight, but they truely don't understand what it is to have a direct

increase in symptoms from those foods!

P.S. Saw my dentist this week and looking into a mouthguard and some other

dental work to help solve TMJ. My ear pain has definately decreased the last

week or so.

Hope all is well with everyone, and that you have a good christmas season

coming up with not too much extra stress!

regards;

Les

This obsession with weight is not good for anyone. The thing to strive for is *health, not the ideal figure of the moment.

Sylvia

Boy do I ever agree with you there! And I am thin, and have been more of my life than not. But, I was still caught up in all that you are talking about. It's taken me more than half a lifetime to realize how wrong it is to put so much stress on being thin.

Les,

Mine improved quite a bit after I got nightgaurds, but it's not completely cured. At least I don't have much pain with it anymore.

I am still debating the whole amalgam removal thing, but I think I'll go through with it one tooth at a time while chelating before, during and after each tooth.

I have heard there is a dentist in New York who removes amalgams from his patients with AIDS. He has them soak in tubs of apple cider vinegar after each extraction to allow their bodies to chelate out the heavy metals. A bit weird, but worth a try.

Les,

I know a guy who is in the midst of amalgam removal right now. He has a quadrant done at a time. He does intervenous chelation before or after, I forget which, each removal session. He has done very well - he only seemed to have any symptoms after the first session, and that was just fatigue and just not feeling too well, but nothing at all big. Of course, he doesn't have MS either. He did have some other health problems, though, including a horrid case of candida overgrowth.

I think we can blame the media for this. All the models and

actresses

are extremely thin. I have never been thin; I've fought my weight

for

most of my life. I am always trying to lose weight. As you can

probably guess, I have caught a lot of flak for being overweight.

Amen!

Being very underweight or overweight has its obvious health complications. I

admitt that I want to gain 10 pounds for appearnace sake, but I am also

conscious of the fact that I could use the extra weight just in case I have

a major set-back or illness, I'll need a bit of padding. Right now, I can't

afford to lose another ounce.

Overweight has it's obvious health issues. Especially with auto-immune

diseases, our bodies have to work under stressful situation as it is without

adding obesity to the list. 40% of American women between the ages of 20 and

40 are more than 20 pounds overweight. That's the Standard American Diet (

SAD) for you!

I am sure if you adopted a mostly raw diet, or followed the Best Bet Diet,

you would not only lose the extra weight, but your symptoms would improve as

well. Then you can complain with the rest of us how skinny you are!

Thanks. My dentist said there may also be a connection to the screwed up

disks in my cervical spine and the way it has affected the alignment of my

jaw. Possibly a connection to high levels of mercury in my body as well. ( A

normal level is under 12: my mercury level is 44).

I am going to visit my Grostic chiropractor in the new year to help realign

my neck, and start a natural herbal oral chelation treatment for the mercury

and see if that helps. I am still debating the whole amalgam removal thing,

but I think I'll go through with it one tooth at a time while chelating

Hi Elanor;

Are you eating complex carbohydrates like bread, pastas, rice, cereals,

potatos etc.? This plus the combination of the animal products still left in

your diet would account for weight gain.

There is ample protein in a completely vegan diet, especially when 80% of

what you eat is raw. No need to eat chicken or fish to get protein, and

there are many good arguments to be made not to eat animal products.
