affected by a common grain fungus that is eaten by humans (grains) and cows, has some sort of enzyme or messenger RNA that I think, causes the immune system in some people to attack the myelin. Therefore, to eliminate dairy wheat and grains, imitative of cultures where incidence of M.S. is low and where those foods are not popular in the aggregate, such as Japan, would mean no dairy at all live yeast or no. http://grainfungus.tripod.com Keep checking, lots of new info.

So, you are also saying to stop eating any kind of meat that has been fed on grasses and grains too, right? Does that include corn?

In my inexpert opinion, It makes no difference if the yogurt is live

or not. What I maintain and am exhaustively gathering is that grasses

affected by a common grain fungus that is eaten by humans (grains)

and cows, has some sort of enzyme or messenger RNA that I think,

causes the immune system in some people to attack the myelin.

Corn is O.K. and corn fed animals.

Thank goodness - I don't want to give up my popped corn!

So, the grass fed beef that they say is better, because it's leaner is out!

Geez, you just can't win!

So much corn is genetically engineered these days that I'm no longer buying it. I see on the Harmony soy milk box that it isn't.

Carol, how would you know? And what about the pollen that blows onto organic fields from the genetically engineered fields? They're cramming the stuff down our throats.

Well, I can see the possibilities. I know that Kentucky fescue grass, that is rampant here in VA, contains an endophyte that often ruins late pregnancy in mares. Resulting in no milk, thick placentas, improper foaling times, and often dead or ruined foals. Then with the recent problem in KY, they suspected a different fungus as a cause of those abortions and other problems, but that theory is no longer the #1 theory - but was a possibility.

Your Mileage May Vary.... for ME, corn is almost as bad as wheat, and

potatoes are even worse. No corn also means no corn syrup, no maltodextrin,

no cornstarch, etc.

Well, as a farmer, I have a problem with that - a corn-fed ruminant is not a

healthy animal. Nature intended cows to eat grassess. They can't even

properly digest corn unless it's cracked (and even then you see lots of

undigested bits in the manure) or procesessed.

It's likely another case of doing what works for your body. I eat

exclusively grass-fed lamb, mutton, beef, chicken & duck with no problem.

I don't eat beef at all and haven't for years, because of the BBD, but made that statement, because I keep reading how grass fed beef is so much lower in fat that it should be ok on a low fat diet. Heven't even been able to find any grass fed beef to try. I know you can order it, but it gets a little spendy. I DID find it at the health food grocery store I shop at a few weeks ago. They had it on a one-time basis, so bought a small piece. It was tough and dry, in my opinion, and I doubt I'll ever try eating it again. Carol

Hey guys what about hard red WINTER wheat? Does that mean it is grown in colder seasons, climates? I grind my own and bake my own bread. Still a risk of getting this fungus?

Which is exactly why farmers don't market it that way. You guys don't want it anymore than the farmer who fattens his own family's beef before slaughtering it. Cattle need several months on grain in order for the beef to be tender and tasty.

I'm a farmer, so I raise the animals myself.

We sell lamb only in large lots to butchers and only raise enough beef,

chickens & ducks to feed ourselves, the dogs & the cats, so I have no idea

where you could buy it.

This is a real bummer. I love wheat bread. Does this mean I have to develop a taste for corn bread? I can't even think of any varieties of things made with corn flour the way I can with wheat flour. Isn't there a way to buy wheat grown in areas/conditions that ensures no fungus? I mean we seem able to buy products that are touted as "organic" or not genetically altered or not radiated, why not fungus free? Isn't there whaet grown during different seasons or in diff parts of the country that would ensure this to some extent? Maybe that is the key to the zapper being successful. It kills the organisms attacking the body.

I love venison. But I wouldn't eat it in any area that is in a wheat growing

area. The Deer here are cornfed and apple fed. I wouldn't eat Mule deer in

the Dakota's or Washington Idaho, Oregon, Montana, Wyoming, Alberta,

Manitoba. I would eat it from Ontario, or White Tailed Deer from New York,

or New England , but in Ontario and the other part of the North every other

person seems to have M.S. The fungus can affect the grasses in those places,

so there is still a risk. The Fungus only can live in the cooler climates,

so I believe deer from southern climes is best.

The Inland Empire, which is the eastern side of Washington, and the HEAVY wheat growing area, has the highest rate of MS in the world, next to Scotland. I live here!

Last week, a couple of us were posting about people not wanting to give up

the things they love, and here we have it again.

I think we all want a silver bullet cure. One shot deal, you're all better,

and you don't have to give up anything. Sure would be nice! But IMNSHO, it

ain't here yet. Do you have to give up wheat? Well, you sure sound like

you don't want to. As Dr Phil says to Oprah, how's that workin' for ya?

If you're going around in remission and doing great, then fine, carry on.

If you don't believe in this wheat fungus thing or any of the materials in

the paleo diet, Swank, BBD, MacDougall, Zone, Atkins, or a bunch of other

sites that say WHEAT (notably gluten, but for me, it's all wheat and anything

with gluten) IS BAD FOR MS, then it's your choice and your call.

I did find an interesting substitute for flour that has worked for me (no

promises as to whether it will for YOU, though), and that is rice protein

powder, made by a company called Nutribiotics. But I use it very sparingly

and I think it's best to just consider it like it's methadone for my

addiction-of-choice (wheat).

Giving up grains and sugars entirely has been the best thing I've done for

myself. Going on 4 years now. I didn't like it, but I asked myself, " how

badly do I want to be well? " Enough that I can live without bread, corn,

potatoes, cheese, aspartame, soy, and sugars.

Sorry if I sound like such a b****, but I'm kind of tough-love on myself and

seem to spreading it out to y'all.

replying to :the North every other person seems to have M.S. The fungus can affect the grasses in those places, Any Guess WHY the Grass may be molding? I may sound paranoid BUT have you seen the same Daily Chem-Trails I have? ALSO, how about Parasites infesting Deer? Maybe if we compare notes we CAN see some mutual reasons for our M.S. -Tom-
