Guest guest
I was wondering the same thing (whether or not trying the Vit A therapy w/o dr. supervision was not unreasonable). it certainly sounds safe so long as no liver/kidney problems are in the child's history. I was wondering if certain supplements are recommended, though, to support the process. Did I read in a post at some point that fatty acid supplementation should accompany the protocol? From those who have done this, was anything else or different recommended along with the Vitamin A? Also, where can one go to read Neubrander's remarks re: Vit A therapy? Thanks. Subject: Re: Day 40, Logan 26 According to the lecture by Dr. McCandless at the Fall DAN! 2005 she presented that 200,000-400,000 iu is the dosage based on weight. We gave 200,000 iu because only weighs 28lbs. (I wanted to err on the side of caution.) She said that this dose can be given for 2 consecutive days every 6 months. This was called the Baker-McCandless protocal. showed a history of regression after MMR and persistent gut problems. Also, he is responding to Valtrex so we have a very strong suspicion that something viral is going on. We decided to go for it hoping that Vitamin A's measels fighting properties may enhance what the Valtrex is doing. I mentioned to my DAN! that we were going to try it. I felt more comfortable knowing that she thought that it was a good idea. This should not be tried if your child has a history of liver or kidney problems. I have tried to read a lot of Dr. Neubrander's work and respect him so much. I felt better when I read on Dr. Neubrander's Basic Supplementation list that 2 day old infants in third world countries are given doses of 200,000iu of vitamin A to prevent measels infections. It made me a little less nervous to hear that a 2 day old infant's body can handle this. Today is the day after this 2 day therapy and 's cheeks are the rosiest I have ever seen them. He also has blotches and sores around his lips and on his chin. The eczema looking rash, from the Valtrex, on his arm and back that was white and about to go away, has turned a blood red color and is bumpy again. We are definitely seeing something good going on here! Also, we stopped in to get some supplements at his DAN!'s office today and he waved hi to her! He hasn't waved for over a year and a half. I couldn't believe my eyes. I was so excited. I told her this and she grinned. I thought to myself " this child knows who is helping him get better. " Thank God for the DAN! movement! This child who slipped away from me so slowly right before my eyes may just yet reappear as slowly as he left. > > Can you explain how to dose the vitamin A therapy? I would like to > give it a try.
