a--Perhaps you can wait a few months for the dentist and see if things change with his behavior? Or maybe he will be one of those kids who needs to be pre-sedated if he seriously needs to go. Does he do better if you're not in the room (like with sitters?) or does he just act worse if you're not there? Many pediatric dentists will "work" on you first as an example--would this help at all? And most allow the parents to stay that I've dealt with (the one who didn't--well, there were reasons! None of them good!). He should be allowed to sit in your lap in the chair for his exam. I know another mom here said she had found that they don't allow parents in the room, but in this day and age, I would either insist or find someone else to go to. Ask about this when you call (as well as asking about their sedation and anesthesia policies). Marilyn

a,

I have been trying to get a cover sheet attached to

that membership app, but have been having pc problems.

I think that it is ironed out now and it when it is

up, it will explain more about it. But, in the mean

time, we would like to accept cashiers checks or money

orders please, in US dollars. We are currently working

on becoming tax exempt. When we become tax exempt,

people that donate money to our organization will be

able to write it off as a tax exempt donation. At this

time, you will not be able to write off your

membership fee because we are still in the process of

becoming tax exempt. Any other questions, please don't

hesitate to ask. As for Brannon and the doctor...Ask

the doctor not to wear a white coat when he comes in

the room. This may help.

Hi a,

I don't remember seeing the post about the dentist. I must have missed it

somehow. Lots of kids react this way. Is Brannon seeing a pediactric dentist?

They are more patient W/the kids. They also have a kid friendly enviroment

which puts the kids more at ease. My older son was a fighter when it came

to drs & dentist. It was difficult for a while but he did become a

"

little" more compliant

as he got older. He learned to be cooperative so he could play the games

after his exam. Then he didn't want to leave.Good luck.

Hope

feel this is going to be harder then I thought.

There is no way he'll be able to be alone w/ the dentist.

We have a hard time taking him to the doctor. He throws major

tremptrums around doctors and some times with his therapist. He wraps

his arms and legs around his Dad and screams his head off while the

Doctor tries to do a check up on him. I don't know why he's like

that.

So I know he won't even sit in that chair alone and I know he won't

open his mouth for the dentist. He won't even do it for the speech

therapist.

I don't know what to do. I don't have any friends around here my age

w/ children so I have no one to ask. Even if I did their situation

w/ the dentist would be different b/c Brannon won't let anyone touch

him. The therapist are still trying to warm up with him, but he will

not get near them. He has to sit on my leg while we're in the floor

just do anything with them.

I don't think any Dentist will be able to handle him. I have a hard

time handling him myself at times. =)

Another thing I wanted to ask is about this membership. Can we write

personal checks? And also could someone explain to me about the tax

exempt part that was written at the bottom. Thanx

Shop around for dentists. Mine will not treat my kids if I am not there and he does not have a problem with me coming back will he is working on them. Find one you like and then explain the situation to him. Then give it a go! Good luck:)

Hi a,

I take my daughter to a pediatric dentist that allows me to sit right next to them and hold her hand. He also has nitrous oxide, which is like laughing gas that helps her relax. She has always liked doctors though so I don't have that problem. She actually looks forward to going.

Jeanne,

Does Nitrous Oxide put them to sleep? That's the only way I know

Brannon will cooperate. He won't sit on a table for a doctor I know

he will not sit in a chair for a dentist. He wiggles and squirms

holding on to me or his dad screaming and crying.

Thanx

One of the problems we have had so far with dental is that Blythe is missing some permeant teeth buds. So know we are going through orthodontics. Her orthodontist is trying to pull everything forward. You would not even thought she would be having this problem when she was little her teeth were perfect,

but as she started to loose her baby teeth (at the age of 9) her last, baby tooth came out last year (age 14-15), ortho pulled it out. She has been through every mouth apparatus you could imagine. The cost so far is $5895.00 just for her braces, we are looking at another $5000.00 for two implants on top.

Why break the chain now......nothing is cheap with Blythe Ann. The girl is a walking 1/2 million dollar baby, literally...lol After NICU cost, braces, glasses, and contact, speech therapy, and the many other cost...that probably doesn't cover it all. lol
