RE: Medicines Causing Mitochondrial Disoder which Can Lead to Autism

I wonder how mitochondrial disorder is detected?

What symptoms are present that might suggest a

test may be in order?

Also, how does mitochondrial disorder affect it's

sufferers and is there anything that can be done

to repair the damage?

You know, I should have paid more attention to my

college Biology class, and definately taken

Chemistry, but I'm not a science girl and didn't

think I'd ever need this stuff beyond passing my

exams.

I found a very good website about Mitochondrial

Disorder. It's by a mother who is affected,

along with several of her children. Here's the

link: http://www.kathleensworld.com/mitochon.html

Here is a useless bit of information I do

remember from my Biology class. Mitochondria

have it's own DNA, which is inherited solely from

the mother. It's speculated that mitochondria

may have once been foreign cells that our cells

incorporated. Eventually the mitochondria and

our own cells developed mutally beneficial

workings, to the point now where one can't

survive without the other.

I'm such a geek. Sometimes I think I'm a mild

Aspie. I love to give lectures on all the

useless info I've acquired.

Geek lecture over ;)

Yes UCI did it, long ago before that child news.

and my son had that problem too in 2006. I did something about it, I research and made a protocol for my son based on a laboratory study, RAP, and tried to help by spreading the word at the autism conferences, but nobody played attention until now.

You have no idea how frustrating it is to speak with people that supposed to be looking and researching to help, and they just turn their eyes on me.

,

I can imagine how frustrating it is to speak what

you know is true, especially trying to help

others, and have it fall on deaf ears.

I think we, as autism parents, have this new

biological/chemical education out of necessity.

Still, it's a struggle for some (like me) and

hard for those who don't have that background, or

who don't take to science naturally, to make

intuitive leaps from behavior in our children,

and studies that we may not even know about, to

finding a good biomedical solution.

Imagine telling people in the Middle Ages that

infectious illness was the result of invisible

entities and not " humours " in the blood. No one

would believe you.

The instance of Black Death in Jewish communities

was much lower because of their purity laws, but

it was assumed, instead, that they were in league

with the devil.

I think something like this kind of mind shift is

going to happen with illness/wellness and autism

in particular in the future. Hopefully in my

lifetime. People will look back and wonder why

we were all so ignorant, when the solution was

obvious.

As far as your connection between mitochondrial

disfunction and protein, could you break it down

a bit more? I almost understand it. I've heard

of the high-ammonia/autism connection, but don't

understand it completely.

One thing that troubles me is; if your child

can't eat too much protein, and carbs aren't

great because of yeast, what on earth do you feed

them to be certain that they grow properly?

Besides and UCI reporting about mitochondria problems, Dana from Dana's View website has written about it. She has a natural protocol that she used for her four children and she said that all four children needed it and they benefited from it, from the most severe child to the NT child. You can search her website for the protocol she used. Another case of a mom that was not listened to, except by other moms. Carol Kim wrote:

No onewould believe you. The instance of Black Death in Jewish communitieswas much lower because of their purity laws, butit was assumed, instead, that they were in leaguewith the devil.I think something like this kind of mind shift

isgoing to happen with illness/wellness and autismin particular in the future. Hopefully in mylifetime. People will look back and wonder whywe were all so ignorant, when the solution wasobvious. As far as your connection between mitochondrialdisfunction and protein, could you break it downa bit more? I almost understand it. I've heardof the high-ammonia/autism connection, but don'tunderstand it completely. One thing that troubles me is; if your childcan't eat too much protein, and carbs aren'tgreat because of yeast, what on earth do you feedthem to be certain that they grow properly?KimPS Sorry this was so long.--- <andreacausaverizon (DOT) net> wrote:> Yes UCI did it, long ago before that child> news.> > and my son had that problem too in 2006.
