Autistica is highly associated (maybe even part of?) Autism Speaks

the philanthropist who started it is Dame Shirley

it's research interests include the genome project (no surprise there) and its

directors include big business (i mean BIG business)

i note from Dame Shirley (whose son unfortunately died and who had autism) talks

about her autistic son when he died from a seizure at a young age in 1998 (

http://www.autismspeaks.org.uk/case_studies/giles.php )

She says in this piece, " Although it is a relief not to have him survive us, we

miss him terribly. "

The language throughout 'Autistica's website is dire, depressing and dwells on

the 'financial burden' http://www.autismspeaks.org.uk/research/index.php

Anyone here had direct contact with it? I doubt very much they would be

interested in anything we had to say .
