Guest guest
Hi, I'm here. I just started Pegasys and Ribasphere on Monday and I'm not feeling very well. I know there's not a lot of hope for it to clear the Hep C virus, since I have cirrhosis, but maybe it will reduce the viral load the way it did last time, when the viral load went down to 2,000. Only time will tell. How have you been doing? Guest guest
Hello Marie- Wel, I hope you do clear in spite of the cirrhosis. Not sure if it's the cirrhosis that makes it harder to clear, or just how like you've been infected. I have read that if you can clear that the liver can still repair itself somewhat, even if you have cirrhosis. Early cirrhosis, anyhow. I have cirrhosis myself, but haven't done treatment yet. I go see my GI doc tomorrow, and will probably start up in February. Things have been delayed for a good (bad?) year now, due to other medical issues. One reason things got delayed is because my previous Dr wanted me to use Peg-Intron. I wanted Pegasys so ended up switching Drs. Best thing I could have done, even if it did cause some delay. So, I'll be doing Pegasys and ribavarin, not sure what Ribasphere is. Anyhow, good luck with it! Best wishes, Ray --- Marie Kuhn wrote: --------------------------------- Hi, I'm here. Guest guest
Hi Ray, I got the Hep C in a blood transfusion 25 years ago. I'm hoping that I clear the virus this time (3rd time around). I was on the Peg-Intron last time and my virus cleared but then came back at the end. The viral load went down to 2,000. That was last February, and now it's back up to almost 3 million. I'm doing the Pegasys this time and the Ribasphere, which is the generic, and less expensive, Ribavirin. I'm just in the early stages of cirrhosis, according to my biopsy two years ago, and my billirubin, albumin, PT time, and platelets are still normal as of last month. My ALT and AST are just in the low 60s, so not very high. Hopefully clearing the virus will help my liver. Having genotype 1a means my chances aren't very good, but I'm going to fight it anyway. Good luck with your new doctor. Let me know how it goes.
