Guest guest
great info elliot thanks for sharing, sharon m Date: 2005/10/17 Mon AM 10:53:31 EDT To: LBDcaregivers Subject: Good news about voice amplification for those with incipient dementia www.chattervox.com I phoned a company called Connections Unlimited, at , and spoke with a Darlene Foley, who told me something very encouraging about the microphone/amplifier system called the " Chattervox. " It was developed for someone with Parkinson's! It features a microphone that fits around the head and over the ear, and that stays directly in front of the mouth, regardless of whether the wearer moves her head to the left or the right. So there is nothing for the user to figure out, and no instructions or technique to follow. (The reason my MIL is unable to use the mini-megaphone is because she cannot get the hang even of how far from her mouth to hold it, nor to keep it horizontal.) I am going to now call a place that apparently is very close by, to talk further about the possibility of purchasing a " chattervox " system. However, we will likely have a consult with a speech pathologist before actually purchasing one. No sense going through another disappointment. We'll first see what the speech pathologist says.
