TCDD Releases Request for Proposal to Promote Public Policy Collaboration/Activities

The Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities (TCDD) has released a Request for Proposals (RFP) to fund multiple projects that promote collaborative, public policy activities which will benefit Texans with developmental disabilities. These grants can support specific, time-limited, activities that groups collaborate on to address an individual issue (or multiple issues) or that work on a much broader scale, such as providing training and organizing, or supporting a state-level disability coalition. Other examples of potential models and activities are provided in the RFP. Proposals should involve diverse groups of individuals and organizations, including organizations that have not traditionally collaborated with disability advocacy groups.

Proposals are due Sept. 1, 2010. Specific funding amounts have not been set for projects under this RFP. Instead, applicants are expected to propose the amount of funds needed to complete their proposed activity or activities. The number of projects approved will depend upon the proposals submitted.

There is no minimal period of funding; however, funding will not be provided for any activity for more than five years. TCDD also expects applicants to continue their activities after TCDD funding ends. Eligible applicants include organizations that are public agencies, private not-for-profit agencies, universities, colleges and private for-profit organizations which have their primary offices in Texas. Individuals are not eligible to apply for these grants.

Three optional telephone conferences are scheduled to help potential applicants understand the grant application process and this specific RFP. Individuals must register to participate in these calls. The phone conferences will be held:

-- Wednesday, July 21, 2010, from 10 to 11 a.m.

-- Friday, July 23, 2010, from 1 to 2 p.m.

-- Wednesday, August 18, 2010, from 9 to 10 a.m.
