Thanks a lot for replying, Stan. I think I've resolved the cost issue - a quick online comparison reassured me that our pharmacy is pretty reasonable, and we are going with 500 mg split in two - thanks for the tip about potentially using 1000 mg down the road. We started last night.

Given that gains are normally seen in the first 60 days, how long are parents typically keeping their kids on Valtrex? As I recall, Ethan was on it for 6 months - until there were no more gains (I hope my memory is right). Is 6 months typical for most folks here?

Hi ,From my observation so far, it seems like the people who see gains will see gains in the first 60 days.
