Guest guest
MArge, I hope to have more pictures posted early next week. I have hesitated because they often seem to cause more confusion than clarity. I will also be sending in several ferments for lab testing and will post all that information as well. I agree with you, for commercial KT I like Pronatura's Dr. Sklenar's Kombucha Tea the best. Now, fortunately there's getting to be a lot of choices. Three local California's obtained their starting cultures and some advice from me and it feels pretty good to see them all around. I remember you trying to start from Dr. Sklenar's Kombucha Tea. How did it work out. It should work but takes a lot longer. The taste begins declining over successive ferments (compared to the original) I theorize its from the type of sugar used in Europe. Try it with Dextrose and it may work better for you but the SCOBY didn't seem to form well for me on my attempts. Ed Kasper LAc. " a floating colony may not always be Kombucha, " Posted by: " Marjorie Russin " prairiegirly@... Date: Thu Aug 31, 2006 7:38 am (PDT) Dear Ed, That's very interesting. Would anyone have pictures of these alternative floating colonies? Do they resemble our scobies? Also , has anyone researched DT Dave's complete chemical analysis to see if it is really so far afield from, " our, " Kombucha? I hate to pay $19.. for 33 oz. of Dr. Sklenar's Kombucha Tea, good as it is. If Ii can get up the Whole Foods in Silver Spring, i just may try DT Dave's and see if it still keeps my eyebrows black and my son's hair not so grey. LOve. MArge.
