Guest guest
Is there a way to do the workout without the bands? BUMMER about this one, because I've really enjoyed every Amy Bento workout I've done and would be disappointed too if it wasn't top notch. I like creative and balancing moves though (you might not like CLX actually because she has this too), just not bands in general and I resent having to have special equipment that only goes with one workout. Hugs I did the first lower body, upper body and abs workout on this DVD today. It is the one that uses her " figure-8 bands. " The DVD came with two sets of bands. They have soft, foam handles and in the middle there is another small foam piece that makes them look like they're in the shape of a figure 8. One offers greater resistance than the other. This was my first time doing any of these, I had to open the bands packages and break the shrink wrap on the DVD. I was expecting a lot more from it, being that this is Amy Bento, but it was very disappointing. There are two lower body workouts, one upper body, a cardio/sculpt workout and an abs workout. I'll do the cardio/sculpt and other lower body workout later in the week. The first lower body is all standing, the 2nd is all floor. The bands did not offer nearly enough resistance for the lower body workout I did, though I loved the idea of the figure 8 and thought the foam handles made it very comfortable and easy to handle them. The lower body workout especially, and some of the upper body and abs, used a LOT of balance moves, doing a lot of work while standing on one leg. That added a good challenge but an awkward one that made it hard to focus on the muscles being worked because I was also fighting to keep my balance at times. I didn't feel much in my legs. I didn't feel anything with the abs workout except maybe in my arms. The upper body was much different. I used the heavier bands in all the workouts and they worked well in the upper body. I don't see myself running to this one though since some of the exercises seemed a bit awkward and it just wasn't fun. Amy's creativity works against her for me most of the time. I want to like her workouts because she is likeable, her workouts are usually challenging and I like the idea of " out of the box " exercises but too often they're too awkward for me or even seem unsafe (not in these though). These were mostly too easy because the bands didn't offer enough resistance and/or too awkward to feel effective. I'm going to try the other two workouts, just to have done the entire DVD before I decide what to do with it but I don't have high hopes for them. Hopefully she'll prove me wrong. Stay tuned later in the week for that review!
Guest guest
Hi !I agree w/ you about Amy's creativity sometimes working against her - that is a good way of putting it. I have been generally lukewarm on her workouts b/c for me she also tends to go at breakneck speed which isn't great if you are trying to watch your form! I do like the 10 min solution she did w/ the traditional resistance band, though!Donna To: exercisevideos Sent: Mon, February 28, 2011 6:51:25 PMSubject: Amy Bento 10 Minute Solution: Sculpt, Tone & Reshape I did the first lower body, upper body and abs workout on this DVD today. Guest guest
as an amy bento fan i most certainly agree. i have traded, reacquired, traded again her strength workouts (except bootcamp) b/c while i love some of the creativity i feel some of it makes the exercise less effective. i am glad she is into kettlebells (she married an RKC instructor) b/c her kettlebell dynamics was an awesome workout and would like to see more qualified ppl put out some good workouts.KASSIAwife,mother,student,kettlebellehttp://ldysolana.blogspot.comFrom: Donna M-P Subject: Re: Amy Bento 10 Minute Solution: Sculpt, Tone & ReshapeTo: exercisevideos Date: Tuesday, March 1, 2011, 8:49 AM Hi !I agree w/ you about Amy's creativity sometimes working against her - that is a good way of putting it.
