Guest guest
Well, just like Wren asking about a good reason not to use the microwave, I guess I asked for the info on Teflon and got it! Thank you to all who sent info on Teflon, I'll be on the lookout for good skillets. I've used Revereware pots for years and have a wonderful heavy stainless stock pot. Skillets have been my downside. Recently I bought a stainless electric skillet at a yard sale for $3, but have yet to use it (shame, shame). Just never got in the habit of cooking in an electric skillet. You know my big teflon skillet almost went into the yard sale with my microwave, but at the last moment I brought it back into the kitchen. Guess I was still too attached to the non-stick skillet. Time to get that one wonderful old seasoned cast iron skillet out (the one I rescued from my husband's intention of it going into the yard sale). Overtime at work doesn't hit till the end of November, but I'll be window shopping in the meantime. We also, during the summer months, do some solar cooking with our homemade solar box. It will make a wonderful beef stew in about 7 hours. I've cooked roast beef and chicken in it too. Only problem is that you have to be around the house most all day to turn it in the direction of the sun about every 45 min to an hour. But it's nice to have those slow cooked meals without heating up the kitchen. Rhonda
