Hey Gwen:

<<Amber, hi, it's Gwen. What kind of diet are you on? >>

==>Fancy meeting you here my dear - LOL!! I'm not on any kind of a diet. I know what I shoudl be eating (something like the Swank diet), but can only afford cheap carbs - yuk! This just depresses me more, because I know what I should be doing, but can't. What kind of eating program do you follow?

Hey Gewn:

<<small world isn't it? they say the Internet is so big yet i meet the same people over and over again hehehehe >>

==>I ran into one of my fellow astrolger friends on a homestead list of all things! I was really surprised to see her there as she lives in a rental in central Los Angeles - LOL!

<<well......i just cut out all dairy.......please see.......notmilk.com and u will see why i did that. i am only eating veggies, raw......fruit and berries and nuts and seeds. and of course soy. you r right amber it cost a lot more money. however i have found that eating "live" you r not as hungry as when eating the carbs so i don't eat as much.>>

==>I still haven't gotten to read that site but will today, esp. after all the comments on it. If I drink milk, I tend to go for the organic kind, lactose free. But I have a goat that will kid in June, so I'll have fresh goats milk - mmmm. Eating live foods gives us the enzymes we need. Everything processed has all the enzymes killed in it. Case in point: I bought some muffins at the grocery store. There was one left uneaten that managed to hide in the box for quite soem time. When I discovered it, the muffin was rock hard with no mold at all. That tells me that if mold won't grow on it, it's a dead food.

<<i went to Audi's (cheap grocery and bought the nuts and seeds and at the local flea market I have bought the fresh veggies and berries.>>

==>What state do you live in again Gwen? No Aldi's type stores up here on no man's land where I am. Do have one food co-op in town with marginal offerings. Beware that strawberries are THE most heavily pesticided crop in the US.

<<The soy milk is good........>>

==>What brand do you buy? I haven't tried this yet.

<<I quit eating flour and anything of it's products last year.>>

==>Bleached, white all purpose flour is a dead food too. That's why it's 'enriched', because all the nutrients have been taken out of it. I use whole flours w/out the bran removed. They will turn bad quicker, but at least they're good for you. I make my own bread from them - mmmmmm.

<<I am new to this diet but have found some wonderful web sites about it. I can send you links if you want to e mail me. >>

==>Yes, I'd appreciate you sending me the links! Have you noticed a difference in how you feel in just the time you've been on this diet?

<<I have quit eating meat. The mad cow stuff really bothers me>>

==>I thiink the evidence is in that we are meant to be herbivores based on our teeth and intestinall structure. The fact that CJ disease is the human equivalent of mad cow is scarey too. Nasty stuff, that.

I live in Kentucky.

I buy frozen strawberries, are there pesticides on them too?

I wash every thing before I eat it.

And yes I feel better already since I have not eaten the meat. There is arachidonic acid in meat that tend to make MS symptoms worse (also in eggs) and I am very sensitive to it. one hour after eating red meat I would start to tingle, I made the connection by keeping a very specific diary.

Amber on the mountain! They need to get some grocery stores up there!

Hi Gwen:

<<I live in Kentucky. >>

==>Oh yes - I forgot (brain cramp again).

<<I buy frozen strawberries, are there pesticides on them too? I wash every thing before I eat it.>>

==>Yes there are pesticides in frozen strawberries. You gotta grow them first before you can freeze them ;-) They have frozen organic strawberries at health food stores (read: expensive). Do you use a produce wash to? Just rinsing in plain water doesn't cut it.<<And yes I feel better already since I have not eaten the meat. ==>Didn't know that acid was in eggs too. A great idea on keeping a food specific diet to find out exactly what makes you feel better or worse.

<<Amber on the mountain! They need to get some grocery stores up there! Gwen >>

==>I agree! Even tho we've got two large grocery stores, they don't offer organic or bulk foods, adn the growing season here is so short. Last year, a frost kiilled my tomatoes and pepperrs on Aug 21st. I wanted to try hydropoonics or something along those lines, but the powers that be would think I'm growing soemthing other than veggies and I don't need added aggravation!

<<that CJ disease>>

<<What is this? (CJ Disease)>>

Crutzfield-Jakobsen's (spelling is probably wrong). This is what kills/maims/disables people to contract it from eating mad-cow infested meat. It's truly terrible. Saw several specials on the BBC showing this. Makes MS look like a picnic.

Hi amber,

yes I found this out about eggs by reading the book by Barry sears called the zone, although I do not follow his dietary guide lines, he brings up some good points on health.
