Social Thinking Groups (14-17 Year Old)

What are we working on?

We are implementing Winner's social thinking curriculum. We explore social concepts related to: being part of a group - the need to establish physical presence (be in the same space) as well as use our whole body to show interest in our friends and let them know when we are paying attention to them; thinking with our eyes - eye contact has meaning and is purposeful (when we look at someone we are thinking about that person, we are trying to figure out what they may be planning to do or what they may be thinking about us); understanding own and other emotions with an emphasis on the facial features that make up a facial expression and the events that may "cause" a specific emotion; understanding that people have thoughts about us, understanding how our behavior determines what other people may think about us, and so much more.
