My name is Rosie Tosky. I’d like to take this opportunity to tell you about a wonderful event that is specifically designed to accommodate families living with Autism. Here’s a link to a short Autism on the Seas video and a link to their website.

http://www.alumnicruises.org/Autism/Autism_Home.htm This type of event allows families with autistic children, who often become isolated from the outside world, the opportunity to bring some normalcy to a family outing. The Autism on the Seas staff provides these families with a unique itinerary, on-board respite care for the autistic children while their parents spend time alone, private dining rooms, reserved seating for on-board entertainment events, networking with parents from across the country and autism education meetings aboard the ship. Autism on the Seas has highly trained staff that plan events to maximize the opportunity for these kids and their families to enjoy themselves and relieve stress. It’s very difficult for these families to afford vacations because nearly all of them have only 1 working spouse due to the complexity and time commitment it takes to raise an autistic child. Skyeward Bound Ranch http://www.skyewardboundranch.org/ has partnered with 20 families from the Houston area dealing with autism to raise money to allow 24 autistic children and their parents to have 1 week out of the year where they are around people who understand them and are trained to help them. As the parent of an autistic child, I’d like to take this opportunity to ask if you or your company would be able to donate auction items, monetary donations or gift cards. Skyeward Bound Ranch does have a TaxID number and this donation would be tax deductable. Please let me know if you or your company is able to help us. Any donation large or small would be greatly appreciated. There’s no magic wand to wave to cure these kids but 1 week of relaxation, on-board therapy and reduced stress will help re-energize the children and their parents. On December 5th we will be conducting our second fundraising event to be held at the Texas Saloon in Pasadena. At our first event this past August, we were able to raise 23K to go toward our goal of 60K. Below are 2 videos. The first video http://www.myfoxhouston.com/dpp/health/100826-autism-on-the-seas is an interview done by Fox 26 before the event and the second video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zThwzkDEqL8 is coverage of the actual event by Channel 39. God bless you, Rosie Tosky
