Guest guest
I could tell pretty quickly that I was on the right track because my stomach stopped hurting within days, which was great. I think my sound sensitivity decreased slowly over the first week, and I could tell it was making a big difference after that. It's not completely gone, but my reaction is about 1/10 of what it used to be, and most of the time I can ignore the sound completely. It's great, it's fabulous, I love it!!! I was talking to a friend who is also on the diet, and she has a mild case of 4s that has cleared up. She said (and it's true for me too) that she used to get anxious about sounds and hang on to the anxiety even when the sound was gone, and she doesn't do it anymore. She hears the sound, gets a bit irritated, then moves on. I don't know how I'd do if I were stuck in a cubicle next to a chronic gum popper--I suspect I'd still have a hard time in that situation, but I'm certianly less anxious about noise. I think you mentioned you tried your daughter on a gluten-free diet--that's a good start, but GAPS takes out a lot more than gluten. Gluten-free diets are famous for not working and making parents give up on the idea of diet altogether, unfortunately. You have get sugar out (except fruit sugars and honey)--I can't belive how much better I feel since I stopped eating sugar. Not that I was a big sweets-eater before, but even a little can really upset your system. Those sugar highs and lows are so draining. My daughter has asthma and sinus problems that might be helped by GAPS, but I haven't convinced her to do it with me. She has some sound sensitivity too, but so far it's not a huge problem. It's so hard for a kid to give up junk food, sweets, etc, but there are some tricks like making sure you pack a yummy treat when you know someone's passing out cupcakes at school that they can't have. Your tastes change quickly on the diet too, and it's not long before even children are happy with their " legal " treats. Long answer to your simple question--sorry, sometimes I get carried away! > > > > > > >Hi Everyone! > > > > > > >Okay, so after being on here for a little bit - I would like to do > sort > > of > > > an informal poll - > > > > > > >Does everyone on here also suffer from ADD or OCD type of tendencies? > It > > > seems to be a recurring issue for many of us on here and it is > beginning > > to > > > make me wonder if it is connected to this in some way?
