We can’t always control room temperature, so please dress light and bring a sweater or jacket for those cooler times. Cottage Industry If you are attending the conference and have a related product, feel free to bring your wares to sell. Tables will NOT be provided or allowed. Policy and Procedure Manual ActivityDid you know that the ILCA Standards of Practice encourage private practitioners to have a policy and procedure manual? Standard 2.1 (part of our Legal Considerations) states, "Work within the policies and procedures of the institution where employed, or if self-employed, have identifiable policies and procedures to follow." Are you mortified because you don't have one yet? Never fear: the Lactation Consultants in Private Practice Conference will come to your rescue, in the sharing-free-for-all that has become a trademark (and highlight) of this conference. ALL participants are asked to bring in one page ... one part .... one paragraph ... from their existing policies and procedures file. And, yes, you do have something. That piece of paper where you wrote down all the steps to remember when renting a pump and collecting a credit card payment? Bring it. Your phone message script? Bring it. Your phone answering log? Bring it. Your brochure? Bring it. Your consent form, your HIPAA forms, your fax cover sheet? Bring them. We will all sit down, and look everything over. We will pick and choose the parts that suit our needs, and adapt what looks interesting. We will also have a model policy and procedure manual available, so you can see the sorts of documents you should aim to assemble as part of your professional practice. You'll leave LCinPP with a working policy and procedure manual! Isn't that a better party favor than a pen and a Hershey's Kiss? Continuing Education Credits We gain so much more than CERPs, but application has been submitted to the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) for L and R continuing education credits. Does anyone know if it, or something like it, will be offered in the Southern California region in the near future?
