Guest guest
I wasn't sure if someone on this list sent this or not... but just in case, here it is again! Some of these MIGHT be true. Some I do NOT know if they are! But I know the Vicks Vapo Rub on Foot or Toe-nail fungus works. My DOCTOR told a friend of mine to stop spending money on expensive creams and Prescription " Toe-nail fungus " preparations, and use the Vicks Vapo Rub for 2 weeks! Does even better, and costs penny's he told him. My friend said it WORKED! Anyone know if any of the others are " true " ? And what's this about WD-40 for ARTHRITIS??? Huh? I thought it was " hazardous " with contact/absorption of persons skin??? So what's this with the WD-40 and rubbing it on use! Oh my! Elf TIME TO GET UP-TO-DATE ON ALL YOUR SPRING CLEANING NECESSITIES..... 1) Budweiser beer rinse conditions the hair. 2) Pam cooking spray will dry finger nail polish. 3) Cool whip will condition your hair in 15 min. 4) Mayonnaise will kill Lice, it will also condition your hair. 5) Spike your hair with Close-up toothpaste (it will also tint it). 6) Elmer's Glue - paint on your face, allow it to dry, peel off and see the dead skin and blackheads. Also works to remove splinters or cactus spines- just let dry on your skin. 7) Shiny Hair - use brewed Lipton Tea. 8) Sunburn - empty a large jar of Nestea into your bath water. 9) Minor burn - Colgate or Crest toothpaste. 10) Burn your tongue? Put sugar on it! 11) Arthritis? Then use WD-40. Spray and rub in, kill insect stings too. Also spray it on wasps nests -they'll be unable to move. 12) Bee stings - use meat tenderizer. 13) Puffy eyes - use Preparation H 14) Paper cut - crazy glue or chap stick. Glue is used instead of sutures at most hospitals lately. 15) Stinky feet - use Jell-O!! Put feet in a pan of jello! 16) Athlete's feet - use cornstarch as preventative. 17) Toe-nail fungus? Finger-nail fungus? Foot fungus? Instead of expensive prescription creams, use Vicks Vapo Rub for 2 weeks. Every night after bathing, rub on, wear old socks to bed, every night for 2 weeks. 18) Kool aid to clean dishwasher pipes. Just put in the detergent section and run a cycle, it will also clean a toilet. Goodness, I've drank a lot of kool aid, think it worked on " my pipes " ?! 19) Kool Aid also can be used as a dye in paint. 20) Peanut butter - will get scratches out of CD's! Wipe off with a coffee filter paper. 21) Sticking bicycle chain - use Pam no-stick cooking spray. 22) Pam will also remove paint, and grease from your hands! Keep a can in your garage for your hubby. 23) Peanut butter will remove ink from the face of dolls. 24) Tie Dye T-shirt - mix a solution of kool aid in a container, tie a rubber band around a section of the T-shirt and soak. 25) Preserving a newspaper clipping - use a large bottle of club soda and cup of milk of magnesia, soak for 20 min and let dry, will last for years! 26) To keep goggles and glasses from fogging, coat with Colgate toothpaste. 27) Stay-Free Maxi Pads - clean window, floors, just stick to the palm of your hands and work! Can also be used as a knee pad. 28) Wine stains, pour on the Morton salt and watch it absorb into the salt. 29) To remove wax - Take a paper towel and iron it over the wax stain, it will absorb into the towel. 30) Remove labels off glassware etc. - rub with peanut butter! 31) Baked on food: fill container with water, add a Bounce softener sheet and the static from the Bounce will cause the baked on food to adhere to it. 32) Crayon on the wall - Colgate toothpaste and brush it! 33) Dirty grout - use Listerine. 34) Stains on clothes - use Colgate toothpaste. 35) Grass stains - use Karo Syrup! 36) Grease Stains- use Coca Cola, it will also remove grease stains from the driveway overnight. We know it will take corrosion from batteries! 37) Sweat Stains - use Efferdent, or vinegar 38) Fleas in your carpet? use 20 Mule Team Borax - sprinkle and let stand for 24 hours. Or, sprinkle carpet with Morton's Salt and in 2 days Fleas dead. 39) To Keep FRESH FLOWERS longer Add a little Clorox, or 2 Bayer aspirin,or just use 7-up instead of water. Guest guest
No, that's not TMI, just I, LOL, Tess. (The kids and I have so many TMI laughs.) Yes, I agree that it makes sense medically, but not psychologically! I'll focus on the Karo syrup for grass stains. I used it successfully for the knees of my tomboy daughter's pants years ago. Guest guest
Susie, I am pretty sure that WD-40 contains DMSO, which from what I've read about is not toxic and very effective for arthritis. I recently bought a bottle from our feed store and plan to try it the next time my elbow or ankles flare. DMSO is not approved for arthritis but is approved for prostrate problems. The company that makes WD-40 doesn't reveal it's ingredients. It says it is secret, but also adds that nothing in WD-40 causes cancer. a > I wasn't sure if someone on this list sent this or not... but just in > case, here it is again! Guest guest
My mother-in-law used PrepH for a myriad of reasons like on sunburns. Think about it...it is used for inflamation; so does it matter where you use it? Guest guest
Yes, I know about DMSO. When I was Vet Tech, we used it a LOT on the animals for injuries, sprains, etc.... Especially after injections for the treatment of Heart Worms, when the dogs contracted Heart Worms.... It helped the vessels and leg when the caustic medicine for Heart Worm treatment went in. I noticed immediately that my HANDS would stop hurting when I " rubbed down the dogs " with the DMSO! Amazing, I thought. Then the Vet explained it to me! Also, my sister (for her LUPUS) tried the treatment with the Intravenous DMSO treatments. It worked wonders of her, and quality of life went up considerably! Guest guest
My job of 21 years was extremely hard on my hands. They would get so overused and dry and would actually crack. Especially around the fingernails! Now THAT hurts! Long " cut looking cuts " which ran from the sides of my fingernails to the tips of fingers! Eooowwww! I used Prep H for YEARS and YEARS as a moisture " holder-in " and barrier. It reduced MUCH inflammation caused by the inks and dyes in newsprint. When I moved here to coastal GA, I met many " shrimpers " . The " strikers " (those who worked the back deck and emptied the nets and " headed " the shrimp)... they ALL used Prep H on their hands! Helped form " barrier " from the sea-salt water, and the over use and cracking, pealing sore hands. It works better, and IMMEDIATELY on the hands, better than any Vaseline Intensive care lotion or other " over the counter lotions. " I don't waste my money on those. I have even used Prep H on my feet and toes! Makes them " soft " , more so than other creams that keep the ruff down on feet. Guest guest
Hi Elf, My husband used the Vicks idea on his toenails on the advice of some S. African friends, and it worked like magic. As for the WD 40 on the joints, I was told that just the other day " unofficially " by one of the nurses at the facility where I had the Remicade study. I've yet to try it, mainly because it sounds kind of gross, but if someone tries it I would love to hear how it works. How are you doing? Love and hugs, Carol [ ] ALL YOUR SPRING CLEANING NECESSITIES I wasn't sure if someone on this list sent this or not... but just in case, here it is again! Wipe off with a coffee filter paper. 21) Sticking bicycle chain - use Pam no-stick cooking spray. 22) Pam will also remove paint, and grease from your hands! Guest guest
I have to confess: I've actually tried this. It does work, but I stopped using it. I can't remember, but I think it gave me a headache. I would try it one more time as a guinea pig for the group, when I'm going to a special function. If I do, I'll let you know how it goes. I guess I'm the butt-head! Love to all, Carol Re: [ ] ALL YOUR SPRING CLEANING NECESSITIES Prep H...they say it " unpuffs " the bags under your eyes (like it unpuffs hemmeroids...is that TMI???) Well, it does make sense, but I'm with you ...not sure I could put hiney stuff on my face!!! Love You... Tess
