Guest guest
I got 40 minutes in on the treadmill last night. I had it cranked up as high as I could go without breaking into a jog, and maintained it for over 40 minutes. Definitely got it into my heartrate range! I need a new treadmill. The one I've got starts stinking of burning rubber (slipping drive belt) after about 30 minutes, which limits my time on it! I can only stand the smell so long... Feeling a bit down because I fear I will never be able to do bouncy-jumpy exercises without retribution from my back. :-( I wish I had a personal trainer to help me find what movements are good and which are bad for me. A luxury I can't afford right now. Fat Tuesday today. Traditionally, all the fat stuffs should be clear out of the kitchen to prepare for the Lenten fasts. I'm expecting a big dinner at home tonight, followed by 6 weeks of lean eating. Good for me in many ways! My son (19) will be home for spring break Friday, and I can get all sorts of heavy work out of him!! Moving this and that, clearing garden areas and other yard work! I can use the work and he can use the money! Weight is still going down, ever so slowly, but in the right direction! Indyrose
Guest guest
Hi Indyrose, Do you have health insurance and if so, would it pay for a PT or OT evaluation to help you figure out exercises that would be good for your back? I have mostly used trial and error with mine. I know a ton of forward bending moves aren't good - I also know kickboxing is not great if I do it often and/or for long stretches of time. Mostly, what I have learned is the need for moderation. Generally, I'm ok if I keep the workouts shorter - I can do intense stuff, but my best bet is not to do it for more than 30 min at a time, then move on to more moderate work if I want to workout longer than 30 min. Also, stretching and Pilates have helped a lot! Donna To: exercisevideos Sent: Tue, March 8, 2011 8:45:05 AMSubject: Misc. stuff... I got 40 minutes in on the treadmill last night. Guest guest
We have a huge deductible on our health insurance, so that isn't really a way to go. We don't have insurance through work, so about the only way to afford it is to have the high deductible. We are fairly healthy and only really need catastrophic insurance, [with perhaps the exception of my son, who is accident prone...:-( ] I'm managing by trial and error, too, but doing some research online as I go. Guest guest
Indyrose, I had a bad back injury in October of 2009 and it took a long time to heal. I did lots of back care yoga and steroids were eventually what helped it (vicadin did nothing other than give me a buzz). I wish I would have known Dr. No at that time (my wonderful chiropractor) You WILL be able to do impact again, just not for awhile. I know it's hard to be patient, I never am either.Pilates is a good one to do when taking it easy.Hugs! I got 40 minutes in on the treadmill last night.
