Dear ,

The late Dr. Hans Nieper, "father" of the Calcium EAP treatment for

MS, placed an archive of his writings at our library here in the U.S.

He wrote in his last book, The Curious Man, (1999) that he had treated

3,150 ambulatory and non-ambulatory MS patients from all over the world

in the past thirty years.

Dr. Joachim Ledwoch is his successor in Langenhagen, a city on the edge

of Hannover in Germany. Dr. Ledwoch is assisted by Dr. Heindorf.

These doctors practice what is called complementary medicine here in

the U.S.

This Calcium EAP treatment was registered by the German health authorities

for the treatment of multiple sclerosis in the mid 1960's based upon research

done in Germany. Dr. Nieper said in 1986 at a lecture here in California

that it is against the law in Germany to do a double blind study and to

treat someone with a serious illness with a substance which has no hope

of helping them while their health deteriorates. Therefore, these

studies were not "double blind" studies.

Here in the U.S. a restrospective study was done by a U.S. doctor in

1986-87 and our library has done a survey of patients on this therapy.

Both of these are subjective but we believe they have some value, nevertheless,

in showing what the response of 151 and 300 patients, respectively,

was to the treatment most commonly prescribed.

Our website lists papers written by Dr. Nieper about this treatment.
