Hi ,

This scenerio sounds like a lot of our children. Most of our children also regressed after vaccines. With these infections that they are probably born with, their immune systems weren't doing well BEFORE the vaccinations. So the vaccines were "the straw that broke the camels back" so to speak.

We always recommend for all ASD kids and families to test for the multiple-infections...lyme, bartonella, mycoplasma and babesia to name a few. More and more kids are coming up positive for them. We don't know the numbers on bartonella but there is a chance the % affected could be even higher than borrelia (lyme). No studies are in progress on this and I doubt any will be soon.

We tried to implement a lyme/autism study through Utah State and basically the money was stolen from us and a bad bad study was done. We shall see if it is printed, but it was NOT the agreed study which we funded and that is very frustrating to me and may hurt our mission.

I would get the testing done, that way you can rule in or rule out these infections. It's really the total body burden of toxins and pathogens that these children are exhibiting. It's important to know which pathogens though, so you can target your treatment.

I'm happy to hear that your son has responded favorably to some DAN type of treatments. It's interesting that you got improvements from the anti-biotic. That is very common in this world due to the high bacteria load these kids carry.

Hi everyone. My previous post was under "Bartonella" and I saw it got linked up with an old post. I wanted to make sure everyone saw my post. I am very interested in this subject because the more research I am doing online I am realizing this might be the missing piece of the puzzle for my son and possible for me. Plus one of your members sent me some information that made me do some research on parasites that was very interesting. Message to Heidi N: A post you wrote on Autism-Mercury (maybe your final one, I'm not sure) is what brought me here. I look forward to getting your insights. I, too, follow the parents who recovered their children. I actually saved it to favorites so I would remember you! :-Anyway here is my repost. Soory this message is so lengthy!----------------------------------------------------------I posted here the other day and now I want to introduce myself. Myname is and I have a 5 yo with PDD-NOS. I have beenthinking a lot about what the missing piece is in my son's recoveryand I am wondering if I found it.Okay. I have done some research online and saw a picture of abartonella rash and it looks just like the spot on my son's arm. Ihad kept hearing about bartonella here and there but never knew itwas what caused cat scratch fever. I have two cats and I actuallygot an infection from one of their bites (we were playing) when hewas a baby. I don;t know if it was cat scratch fever but I wastreated with 2 rounds of antibiotics. The same cat bit my brotherand he was in the hospital for a week (why we still have the cat is along story for a different day). This cat has never bitten my son asfar as I know, as a matter of fact it is his best friend. If this isin fact bartonella then can it be transmitted through humans? Can itit be transmitted from cats any other way than a bite? Could anyonespeculate why there is just one spot? Am I blowing this out ofproportion?Let me tell you about my son. He is 5 yo with dx of PDD-NOS. Chronicear infections treated with antibiotics that started after 4 monthvaccines. Dxd with asthma at 4 months after hospitalized withbronchiolitis, again after 4 mt vaccines. Aside from being verysickly, developed normally until varicella vaccine and washospitalized again with URI. At this point became more hyper andunfocused but was still okay, although the URI never really clearedup. AT 15 mts got 4 got the MMR, HiB, DTaP, and flu shot anddeveloped yellow diarrhea and reflux. Over the course of next coupleof months he slowly faded away. We see a DAN. THese are thetreatements that he has responded to: GFCFSF plus additional dietaryrestrictions to exhaustive to list; Low Oxalate Diet (been huge forhim); treated for Clostridia with metronidozole (saw improvements);treated for yeast with diflucan; valtrex (has been huge but reallydealing with a lot of die off issues); supplements to address mitoissues. We are having problems with asthma flare-ups since starting valtrexand he still gets sick too often to be considered normal (IMO). Hehas had strep 3 times since spring. He has heavy metal toxicity butwe have not chelated yet because his we cannot get him stabilized.Does my sons history sound anything like your children? Hi Tami. Nice to meet you. Regarding the antibiotic. He was

treated with metronidozole 3X, the final time being for 1 month.

This was taken with Diflucan. Clostridia was suspected because his

HPHPA levels were through the roof on his OAT from Great Plains.

This HPHPA has been associated with the clostridium bacteria but it

is not known for sure. Could this byproduct actually have been from

a lyme based bacterium? He got to day 21 on the antibiotic and had a

terrible die off that caused a regression, diarrhea, severe anxiety,

and sound sensitivity.

Sorry I accidently pressed " send " . I didn't clip or anything!

Anyway I am really looking froward to learning a lot from all of

you.

I am also having problems with my NT daughter and I am beginning to

suspect some type of parasite. She gets unexplainable diarrhea once

or twice a month with no other symptoms, but is usually constipated.

She also has mood swings. She was night-trained and in Spring 2007

got sick with Strep and never had a dry night after that. I had been

concerned about PANDAS but ruled it out. She also grinds her teeth

when she sleeps, has frequent bad dreams, and she always gets crazy

at east once a month in a definite cycle. It's funny because her

behavior goes down hill when I am ready for my period. I was

beginning to suspect percocious puberty but now I am very suspicious

of parasites. I started her on a strong probiotic about three weekes

ago and interestingly enough she had been dry through the night for

the past 7-10 days. What's weird is she was sent home yesterday from

school with a diarrhea and no other symptoms. When she came home she

had started the crazy behavior and oddly enough she peed the bed 2X

last night. Is there a connection? Now, I am going to get a little

graphic so I apologize in advance. I inspected her stool today and

she had a lot of these white pieces that resembled a rice grain

except they were smaller and one end is flattened. I looked for

movement but did not see any. Any idea what this is? Undigested

food or worms? Please tell me if I am overreacting about all of

this. Please let me know if I need to chill! :-)

Thanks again!

Heidi here:

Word is that it's pretty common for those with lyme to initially feel better on antibiotics, including flagyl (metronidozole), and then about a month after starting, go into awful herxes. Thus, this would fit the profile.

I hear that lyme flares when we have our menstration. I imagine other pathogens may as well. I know I am wiped out at that time. I have the same thing, usually constipated with diarrhea about once a month. I take a bunch of herbs now, so that is not true any longer. I heard teeth-grinding is Bartonella. Yes, grains of rice looking things are supposedly worm eggs. We get them too, mostly when we de-worm. I don't know which worm it is. I even seen them yesterday in one of my child's stools, which tells me the this dewormer still hasn't killed it. If this one doesn't work, I am trying a homeopathic de-wormer next. I heard someone say they got a big ole worm from the dewormer, detoxodes. I am using Humaworm. I heard it works as well, but so far, its only rid pin worms and rice-looking things that look like eggs. I hate worms. We got bed-wetting here too. It runs in both my husband and my families. I got 4 kids, age 4 to 6 that wet the bed. I was waiting to see if Samento or other anti-bacterials would rid it, but nope. I ordered a homeopathic cream for it. We'll see if that works.

Love and prayers,

Heidi N

Hi ,

My readings indicate that parasites go into breeding cycle just

before full moon, and in my house my son doesn't sleep well in the

few days before and up to a few days after full moon.

PLUS: if your body is humming naturally, menstruation happens at

this time too.

Perhaps look out the window at the moon (no pun intended) and then

calendar it to the issues you have with you and the kids.

I believe that some doctors time antiparasitic treatments with the

moon (dosages etc).

Wow. THank you so much for all of this information. I have already

gotten so much good information from you all and it is only day 3 of

my quest for information. Everything I am reading is all so very

scary, it is really out of my realm. I have been entrenched in the

autism/GFCF/mercury/yeast/virus school of thought for so long and

this is sooo different. I still believe all of those aspects of

autism are incredible important but this one will definitely consume

me for a while. My son has come so far since he was dx'd at 2 yo I

am hoping this is the missing piece that will bring it on home, plus

help my daughter and even me. You know my husband is the only one in

our family who does not exhibit any symptoms I guess that could mean

he is a carrier though.

Some things I need to do:

1- get us tested. had recommended ingex (or something like that)

2- you said treat for worms first and you used humaworm. I bought a

AP tinture yesterday with blackwalnut and a couple of of other

antiparasitic herb in it. Question for you guys, how do you get your

children to take this stuff. I don't worry about my son, it's my

daughter who will refuse it. It is very, very strong. Any

suggestions would be very appreciated.

3-How many of you still use a DAN? How many of you use a ILAD,

Naturopath, etc? If you use a different doctor for Lyme do you still

use the DAN? Did you get your initial testing done through a DAN or

were they completely nonresponsive to the idea? We are in the

process of switching DAN's and I am hoping this one will be a little

more receptive to LIA.

Again thank you for all of your help.

Hi ,

I have done biomed close to 3.5 years and have not had a DAN doc. I did

Yasko two years on my own. This somehow overlapped with following Andy

Cutler chelation protocol for 2 years. On the 3rd year, when I started to

look into the Lyme piece (thanks to LIA), I had consulted Dr. Lee Cowden,

Dr. Klinghard, and my son had received treatments from Dr.

Sheehan. These are out of town doctors to us. We see a local naturopath MD

trained by Dr. Cowden periodically. He treats my son with LED protocol. He

trusts that I am well informed and agrees to give prescriptions and order

tests for what I request. I still do some DAN and some Yasko selectively.

I have considered to see a LLMD, but still feel hesitant towards antibiotics

therapy. I spoke with Dr. (ILADS) a week ago about his

treatments for an autistic child with Lyme and my hesitation to antibiotics.

He said that he does not put young, autistic child on antibiotics upfront.

He puts them on natural, herbal protocols as well as detoxification program

for about 18 months, and then re-assess to see if they are ready for

antibiotics therapy. He said that without any detox first, some autistic

children get crashed on antibiotics.

Heidi,

Have you tried a zapper? Sorry if you already talked about this. I

don't always have time to read every post. That must be tough with 4

bed wetting children. Just one was enough to destroy my sleep for 14

years. I went from birth to 5 years without a single full night's

rest. Horrible! I've heard lots of good things about the Humaworm.

Hopefully it will continue to bring out the worms. We did pretty good

with GSE before we were able to finally fix her gut.

I read Hulda 's book and even made a zapper, but then never used

it. I guess I felt like I didn't have the time to study more about

it, and it did not appear to be any more help than herbs. I guess it

would be helpful, but on the rife forums, everyone is still

struggling. If people posted they zapped for two weeks and were

cured, I would be doing it then. But most just said they liked it,

felt it helped, but have been doing it for years and are still

dependent upon numerous treatments. Thus, I delved into herbs. I

guess I understand them more, and there is more information on them.

But, I do think zappers and rifing could potentially be great.
